I just had the sound cut out during the cutscene during Samara: The Ardat-Yakshi mission. About 30 seconds of the audio for the cutscene between Morinth and Samara was missing. Is there anyone else having this problem. I've tested it 4 times and it happens at the exact same time, every time.
Sound cutting out during cutscenes.

That happened to me in the exact same spot. I installed the game to my 360 if that matters.

This has happened to me as well, it's a real shame since I don't have any saves before it either so I cannot just reload and turn on subtitles.

Same thing here. Must be a glitch? I got the feeling I missed some rather important mother/daughter dialogue.

Yep. Me too. I went over it several times, and no good. Guess it is a glitch.

Had something similar happen while doing grunt's loyalty mission, everytime the big piston thing on the keystone hit the ground, the sound would cut out
opening the xbox menu seemed to fix it.

That will work for some of the cinematics, but I've tried it with this one and there was still no sound.

This was a common issue for me throughout Dragon Age as well, and I think I remember it going as far back as ME1.
Anyway, found this on youtube to fill in the gap:
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QS5UVQlitAw&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.c...n_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

I'm getting the same issue too with the game, running it on a Dolby 5.1 setup. It's bad enough that I need to have the subtittles switched on. Very annoying!

Had the same thing happen to me. Will installing it onto the hard drive fix it?

I posted this on a previous thread, but I think the reason the sound goes out is because of the strong biotic field being charged between the the Justicar and her target.
If we're all hitting the dead sound zone at the exact same time it should be right when the Justicar's target says "I'm the genetic de..." and then nothing after that. The reason why I think it's the field is that it happens at the exact same spot, the XBox sound still works when you hit the 360 button, and when your character grabs the arm of the Justicar's target causing the strong field being produced around the characters to fail (this is noted by the chairs and whatnot once floating in the field now falling to the ground) sound is instantly returned.
So I think the dialog is actually there, but the sound of the field is bugged, not present and that silence is overriding/trumping all other sound in the area where the "camera" is.
Of course this is my inexperienced self talking, so I don't know too much right now, but I'll be able to answer this better in 22 months when I get my bachelors in Game Dev... not like this will matter at that point though. ^.^

Having the same problem in the scene with Samara. Thankfully I have a recent save and can turn on subtitles. Still aggravating though. My game is installed to the hard drive and it happens whether you're using disc 1 or 2.

Same issue here. Sound cut out in exactly the same spot. Frosset: it's not a gameplay thing, as my sound also cut out for ~30 seconds during Thane's loyalty quest when the Krogan bodyguard goes in to shake up the human store owner.

I haven't done Thane's quest yet (I was wrapping all the loyalty quests up when I hit this) so I cannot say what for sure. All in all though, I'm starting to feel more and more like I'm beta testing this game without the support of Bioware to immediately fix the problems we're having.Aridneptune wrote...

Maybe the sound just tried to divide by 0... ^.^

Same here (exact same spot too). Thought my TV was busted for a second... odd that it seems to be a widespread problem.

I too ran into this, after attempting to reload it 3 or 4 times i tried clearing the cache with no success. Uninstalling it from the HD didn't work either. It's really put a dent in the experience for me
