Hey guys, I haven't seen anything about this in the last dozen pages.

My game is wayyyy too dark and (see title) the lens flare effects are ridiculous, like horizontally covering the whole screen at times.  Since the graphics adjusting options are limited, turning up the brightness only washes it out without fixing the problem.  Even tweaking my monitor settings isn't enough.  I have a Geforce 9800.  Is anyone else experiencing problems like this?

If you're talking about Mass Effect 2 then I know exactly what you mean, though my card is far inferior to yours, so I figured it was because I wasn't running a fantastic setup. Maybe it's something else?

How to remove lens flare.

We need to make changes to:

File: Coalesced.ini
Folder: C:Program Files (x86):Mass Effect 2:BioGame:Config:PC:Cooked

First, backup the original Coalesced.ini to a folder somewhere, then delete the original Coalesced.ini....

Download this program:

http://www.mediafire...8538f5672f1b9df

Uncompress the program into any folder.  This program allows us to compile a Coalesced.ini file.. (You can't just edit Coalesced.ini using notepad, it won't work).

Now that the program is uncompressed you'll see a folder called Configs, navigate to it.

* Edit bioengine.ini in the configs folder with notepad, then find and change these parameters to the following:

LensFlareMaxOcclusionIncrement=0.00
LensFlareOcclusionStepSize=0.00

Now run the program ME2CC.exe as Adminstrator.  (right click it, run as administrator).

Choose the option to compile a new Coalesced.ini ...

Now it has the new lensflare settings which FIXES the issue.

As much as I respect Bioware for leaving this backdoor open, they could of just gave us the info about the lens flare when the game was released. Instead of helping the Stereoscopic 3D community they chose to ignore
us.
