also, she runs around in combat boots, not high heels.

Precisely.

Nevertheless, the only issue I find with the animation is that FemShep tilts her head to the right side, even while she's walking forward, making her appear like a drunkard as the OP had indicated.

Indeed.

I haven't played enough as femshep, but I always considered the "limp" with maleshep to be because he had been dead for about two years.

I hate how Shepherd walks in ME2, male and female. They both have the exact same walk animation, and to me it's not so much that she walks manly, it's like she has a limp or something. At first I thought it was because she had been dead for two years and her gait is messed up now because of it, but I realized that doesn't make sense since she has no problem running. That crooked head thing happens on both models too (and it happened in ME1 also), I think it has to do with them trying to look at someone while they run by but it doesn't work right. They just didn't do a very good job on that particular animation, which is surprising because character animations are usually really good throughout the rest of the game.

Annoys the hell out of me too, its just one of those little things.
At first I thought the limp was because I just got braught back to life, but alas no.
You know what I think? I think it's because it was designed for the 360. I bet it doesnt happen when using a controller... can anyone with the 360 version confirm?

Why is (especialy the female) Shepards walking / running in ME2 (if you are not having your weapon aquippt) so disappointing, especialy compared to the first Mass Effect Game. She just walks broken. Like sometimes an entire animation (like some turns) are beeing lost. Just not smooth.

Whish i could just copy a file from ME 1 into the ME 2 Folder and here we walk the right way.

PLEASE BIOWARE give us PC Players with our simple wsad controlls a better walk animation. :D

Even if its not likely, i am hoping that this will be changed with one patch. Maybe even the first just in work patch i`ve heard from. Just add some.:P

And for the 360 - it's a shame - i have a 360 controller especialy for the PC but it is not supported in Mass Effect 2. So even if the 360 version movements are better cause of the controller, its not helping the pc version at all.

If its primary designed for the xbox 360 why not even supporting the 360 controller for pc, like many games already do since the appearence of the xbox 360.

Its strange thou. I have no problems with missing fsaa or clipping or whatever.... But i miss the animation (without the gun) from ME1. Sometimes i think i am just to nit-pick, fussy, dont know...

But i really must say - the combat animations - in my opinion - are much better than in the first game. I even like the idea with the ammo - or better with the overheated clips.

Sorry for my bad english, i am from germany.

Same as the others, why would you want a soldierly chick to act feminine? Wait, let me reword that. Why would you expect her to?

I didn't really notice, then again my comparisons are two years apart. Even then I doubt it's that big a deal. I personally found it hilarious that she did the man dance, and truth be told it's far more fitting of her no nonsense, I'm-just-doing-this-because-I-have-to personality if you went the Renegade route with her.

Have you played as femshep and make her walk holding down the control button? Her animation is the same as the maleshep, and it doesn't look like they fit that animation on her body properly. As in, they didn't bother with the smaller femshep details like they did in the first game.  It's not a matter of where Shep comes from, it's a matter of animation issues. It literally looks odd, and stupid and it makes me angry like hulk.

I didn't even realise you could walk. There isn't really any situation that calls for it, I can easily see why the devs didn't focus on it.

On a related note I finished off an ME1 game I had to get more import options and noticed the male run animation looked quite funny.  Very poncy.

Allright she is a soldier! Maybe your right to say she should walk like a marine.

But i didnt meant her movements wold be just not feminine enough (sorry i didnt meant just the walk i also meant even the normal move). Its just not as smooth as it was in ME1. Even a soldier has to turn by moving not by skipping. Maybe i just played ME1 far to long.

Example:
I am somewhere on the normandy - at my left a corridor - i am looking from the side via mouseview into the corridor shepard from the right side - i am pressing w for forward and shepard has not a correct animation for the move with a 90 degrees turn (90degr. or whatever with move order often have this skipping animation error or something is missing - very fast turns sometimes with no animations between). Its like a part is missing like something is skipped. Normal move not walk. Thats the little something that draws my attation. That didnt happened in the first game. I hate myself to be so stucked into comparing and literly searching for something little like this but its there.....-

But like i said, even if i am focusing on this very little error , missanimation or whatever - which wouldn´t had drawn my attation in the first place if i wouldnt have the first game - this is still a very good game and i like it more than the first one.
I just want it to be perfect (in my own way perhaps)

Yep, true. I didn't noticed it before becouse the full armor, but i played a bit with some ini mods, and tried to fit Miranda's outfit to femshep, and it was stunning. Definitely not feminin at all, and not becouse she's a soldier or not.

Miranda also not the best in movement (and sometime she stand strangely) but still better. A little tweek would be nice in a patch :D

I was in the Army... but I don't think this plays out to a great extent.  The way a woman walks is due to her musculo-skeletal structure... not-so-much her military training.  Perhaps the military gives them a better physique, but they definitely doesn't start walking like men.

I suppose Bioware could attempt to explain the "limp" by saying that it was an unintended side effect of the cybernetic reconstruction process but...yeah.

This really needs to be fixed. =(

All animations for femshep are identical to male shep, except some of the specific ones (romances etc). While i can see the soldier argument from the_one, the animations still look "off" for femshep, presumably because they are the male animations which are forced on a body with completely different proportions.

Needs a fix, but probably won't be fixed, seeing as Bioware already has problems implementing a simple helmet toggle.

There are two issues for me, distinct yet interrelated:

1: the animations for normal walking around (both for manShep and femShep) are borked. It looks ridiculous. The head-tilting thing: you can somewhat correct this if you stop walking, wait for Shep's head to correct itself, then start again. I think it has something to do with wherever s/he was looking before you start walking. Still, it's bloody awful.

2: the rest of femShep's animations appear to be simple cut-and-paste jobs from manShep's. There is no way to play femShep other than butch. Can women only be strong if they act like men? It appears so. Coupled with the tone of Hale's va this time around and I'm massively reticent to play as femShep again - she's a different person to my ME1 femShep (Lazarus reconstruction aside - at least they rebuilt manShep to be the same guy).

Hm...I could be an ass about the complaining about a walk but I won't.

Though yeah M!Shep's walk is kind of funny too.

that quote sounds so akward and stupid... I cant believe thats a charm option. In my opinion he shouldn't have even danced next to her... because he can't dance

In ME1, she walked like a female. ME2, she walks like maleshep should but it makes her look like she is drunk and constipated.

Is there anyway that in the future, Femshep could be modded so she is less "hulk" manly? It really breaks you away from the immersiveness.

I don't understand, the physiological differences in the walking motion of a male or female person are negligible. Why does she have to swing her hips to be a woman?

They should have Jennifer Hale mo-cap her and base default female Shepard's face on her.

Also how does a woman walk exactly? Because I'm female and I'm often told I have a very male walk naturally. :/

Was the source of much exasperation on my poor mother's side. Thinking I'm forcing myself to walk that way when...I'm not. Then again I do have a very bulky build and broad shoulders so that might be the case....=]

Also FemShep should NOT be as strong, fast, or take as many hits as M!Shep. She's a woman. Not a man.

I think that as she walks should run her hands down her sides and bit her lower lip.  I think that's a great way for chicks to walk.

:mellow::huh::whistle::D

In all seriousness, I'm seven thousandthing LG's post.
