Dog should come back too. If not, I'll cry, he's just so cool.

^_^ I'll cry, too, if my *pet* doesn't come back. Plus, I would miss the camp silliness of his interactions with other comapions. I sorta wish he wasn't a 'companion' slot, y'know?

Oghren wasn't one of my favourites in Origins, but that's actually the reason why I'm so happy that he's going to be in Awakening: now his character is going to get a chance to develop further and he'll get some extra depth. He has more room for growth than most of the other characters. Also, he is a great character for comic relief, which is always welcome. :)

hi yall, if there is one thing i think bio has done horribly wrong with DAO and now the exspantion is that they have been so very damn tight mouth about Everything, i mean cmon trow us a freaking bone here it cant hurt the game with telling us alittle of the story, maybe show us a few of the new skills and a class it certainly Cant hurt sins the exspantion is comming out in just alittle over 2 months and the way ppl have been screamin for RTO and crying to the heavens about how great a game DAO is bio should certainly be able to give us more then a lousy 43 sec clip with shows us Nothing that they havent shown pictures of on there homepage,

and the clip wasent even 43 secs long it was more like 20 of actual game play the rest was just adds, YO BIO slip some more god damn info to us like all the other game delvopers do for there games it Whont hurt your sales of the exspantion unless you whant to keep it a secret cause the exspantion sucks and i highly doubt that!!!

Ok i really need to shed some light for everyone on the "old favorite character coming in.

It's obviosly MORRIGAN!!!!!! :D

Here's why:

Ohgren= If you get his approval low enough you have to option to kill him :] (hated him, annoying basterd.)

Leliana= You can kill her if you choose to hide the Urn of Sacred Ashes from everyone :[

Wynne= You could kill her if you didn't try to save the mages being held by the one guy in the circle of magi.

Shale= DLC so not everyone got her so shes not an option.

Allister= king/ option to die so its just simply not going to be him.

Sten= Went back to his people so its not him.

Zevron= Option to kill so its not him.

Which leaves... MORRIGAN!!!!! :D She is the only character you cant kill, or kick from your party (Well you can kick her but she comes back within your next few quests)! she also has a HUGE impact at the end. Im almost posative its Morrigan. + the thingy sys afew monthes after the main story and it only takes 9 months to pop out a baby :] (My baby) ... hope its a boy >:/

You forgot to mention Dog, although his recruitment can be missed easily. On the other hand it would be also easy to include Dog in Awakening if you didnt pick him up in DAO - remember, he is your personal pet. But he wouldnt be a ''old favorite'' then. He cannot be kicked or killed.
So I bet its dog.

You also forgot to mention the secret companion in DAO, but he can be killed, kicked, and is heavily involved in other things than following you around.

Morrigan fled from the warden as far as she could; and she can be kicked; on the other hand you have no chance to avoid her recruitment.
I didnt try, but you cannot kill her either, right?

Lets agree that the secret companion in Awakening is a BIG big mystery for now and we just cannot know who it will be with such little information we have.
Futher discussion is entertaining but rather pointless.

I hope some useful information will pop up in a future trailer.

Well, for ME Duncan was never ever a ''old favorite'' nor was he some sort of companion, to say it bluntly, he was that guy who forced me to join the grey wardens, the fool who went willingly on a suicide mission and he only served a very minor role at the beginning of the game.

I would be hugely disappointed if hes the one.

It is not Duncan!!!!

I believe I remember reading somewhere that Bioware stated it IS an old companion...not just an old favorite. I am too lazy to cite this source, but it is not that hard to find...maybe it was IGN interview.

Also, I shall disprove some statements above concerning which companions can't come back.

Leliana=left for dead at urn, the magical urn that cures Eamon, the magical urn right next to her, the magical urn that a certain warden might have spilled its contents on the floor and she could have licked it up and BAM cured of fatal wounds

Wynne=she died once already, whats to say more spirits did not come to her aid to sustain her life

Sten=he has legs...he can walk back. if left at lothering, he could have been released by someone else, found his sword and been bad*** like that. Unlikely though I'll admitt.

Morrigan=duh! of course she can come back, but her story would probably be more interesting if she did not join the group.

Shale=she was once a dwarf warrior, that would be awesome if she got her mortality back and rejoined the party. just thought of that. after all we need a female elf and dwarf character still to balance the cosmos.

Oghren=his character wasn't developed enough i feel and almost no matter what you do he is alive

Alistair=yea he kinda does have to play a minor role or else people would feel left out if their toon killed him off.

Dog=yea he is not coming back either, unless you can somehow form a real relationship with him and have interesting dialogue

Zev=i don't know Bioware can do whatever they want, if they want zev back then they can get him back.

In my ending every one left except for Zev, Oghren, Alistair, and Dog. Leliana went into the deep roads for research, Sten went home, Morrigan left with the baby, Wynne and Shale went to the Tevinter Mages to try to turn Shale back into a dwarf, and then Fergus went back to Highever. I always thought it would be interesting if you could of found him and added him to your party.

Well, in the first Trailer, Allister says "I kind of miss the whole darkspawn killing thing" which means that (i) he is on the thrown of Ferelden and as such cannot join your party or travel to new lands... or (ii) he is on the thrown but "reluctantly" (i.e. delightedly) agrees to join you because the threat is so great and you need his help to rebuild the wardens? Or, he might be an active party member only during segments of the new campaign taking place in Ferelden... Olgren and/or others can then join you in the new lands?? Either way, there will be four or five new party members to choose from -so the emphasis will be on them...

No, disagree... I don't think the campaign has to strictly account for all possible endings/continuities simultaneously etc. -it's not that strict. The game will most likely have various optional starting points/strands (akin to the six original character backgrounds offered in the original campaign). So, for example, Allister dies OR becomes king, you are correct, but the first Awakening trailer shows him as king (i.e. not as dead!) and as such, the trailer, at least does not take into account the possibility that he had died in the original (and he may take up an active role as Grey Warden in the new campaign, per my previous post, above)... so the same take could be applied to ANY of the characters!

Let's face it folks, it could be anyone of them... but availability/salary negotiations with respect to the actors WILL be a deciding factor!  Even Flemeth might have a cameo slot, depending on how much that actress would be paid (at LEAST $50,000 for a few days in the studio).

So.............................. March, 2010... all will be revealed.

I still think it would make more sense if it was Zevran or Dog. But I love Oghren too so it doesn't really bother me. :)

Good teaser, but hope to see another proper trailer prior to launch!

Bioware will NEVER release any information about who is going to be the old returning companion, if they did they would have to fear that a lot of people dont like their chocie and wont buy Awakening, = bad.

The secret companion will be secret until you buy and play Awakening.

My question is what happens to our characters if we put them on the throne via Alistair or Anora? Will we still be married to them? And if we chose to put Anora on the throne what happens to Alistar in the main scheme of things?

I really hope we get Alistar back and the dog, they made a powerful tanking team and it was always fun to see what they did with the dog.

It's Oghren. How thoroughly disappointing. At least the canon re-spec will breathe some life into the useless drunkard.

I doubt that Alistair will be this one who will return. Ok in trailer he is a King of Ferelden, but it don't mean, that he will be in Awakening in all players game. If yours decisions are important and have impact on expansion's story, for some of us ( including me), he is dead so I suppose that instead of King Alistair I will have Queen Anora in this scene ( and I would prefer that, than " canon" ending). This same about Zevran ( some players could kill him), and Leliana ( she could die in Sacred Urn quest), Oghren ( low enough influence and he is dead). Sten returned to his ppl, Dog could die in Ostagar, I think that ( unfortunetly) the only one companion who could survive is Morrigan...Anyway..maybe it's companion from Origin, i.e sir Gilmore or Soris, Gorim or elven mage from Dalish Origin ( forgot her name).

I dont really care bout whos the one coming back, but please, not Zevran.

After 10 playthroughs i was mad bout him, the whole time trying to romance with me.

In my next games i just ended killing him each time i founded him, not even allowing him to talk.

So please, just not him >.<'

Okay, look there is nooo chance of Morrigan coming back. Check out this interview from Bioware about Awakening... http://au.pc.ign.com.../1058656p1.html

the expansion takes place only months after DAO so Morrigan's child is not even born yet and they dispell all rumors of her coming back. Personally, I can't wait to be suprised, but more looking foward to the new members, provided they are a mix of males and females. I also like how he mentioned that Duncan "supposably" was killed by the ogre. I think the person who mentioned Duncan may be right, although since Duncan really never "joined" your party, I guess he can't really be a "returning party member.
