Two days later after first asking and hoping that this issue would resolve itself, I have uninstalled my anti-virus software and forwarded all recommended ports and still remain unable to connect to the mass effect network.  I consistently get the "connection interrupted or timed out" error almost immediatly after the screen asking for my guardians email (and why are you assuming i'm a minor in an M rated game?).
