We definitely intended the aim system to be extremely friendly for non-shooter players on casual. Thanks OP for letting me know this is an issue for you.

the game is completely fine and Bioware did a GREAT job at spicing up this game.......please all Bioware ppl that see this thread do not let someone like this make you feel as tho you didnt do your job at making an awesome game.

OP was totally respectful, I didn't take his point as a critisism of ME2 at all he was just saying that he was having trouble shooting on casual and suggested a solution. I honestly thought our aim assist on casual was 'good enough' for pretty much anyone so if it isn't that's good information for me to know for ME3.

You people suck at life and reading.  Children, FPS games arent the end all of gaming, there are *gasp* people who dont care about FPSs games because they are mindless. Aiming a gun doesnt use the brain, solving challenges on missions and managing your party and resources uses the brain.  Maybe some of you people suck at that so you delude yourself into thinking gunplay is all thats important but in the real world its not.

I don't even like FPS games and your attitude is irritating me. Stop being so condescendingImage IPBImage IPB. A lot of kids play RPGs, a lot of adults play shooters. And if it was that mindless, then it shouldn't be that hard for you. It's a different skill set. One you might not think you need or like, but a skill set nonetheless.
Also, in the real world being good at an RPG doesn't matter, either. The real world doesn't give you dialogue options or EXP.

Oh for pete's sake would the lot of you shut the f*** up.

Some people are good at shooters
Some are better at bloody rpgs and micromanagement.

Its not to much to bloody ask for a aid when the blasted game is touted as an SHOOTER/RPG HYBRID.

>_> God I hate morons.

This reminds me of those elistist comments in the DA board "Learn2Play!" NM the fact that certain people are not skilled or interested in doing certain things that take away their enjoyment from the game. <_<

I'd caution bright blue ink and LordRikerQ about implying that a shooter skill in FPS's set might translate into real world skills.

I've taken to looking at Dragon Age and Mass Effect as too complimentary concepts. Dragon Age is a pure high fantasy RPG, while Mass Effect is much more a shooter. There are easy difficulty settings for those who struggle with aiming, but the fact is if you didn't want a shooter you shouldn't have bought a game with a gun on the cover. The bioware sticker might trick you, but I don't think its fair to demand that a diverse and dynamic company be pigeonholed into producing strict RPGs.

That sums it up nicely, maybe i was harsh to some people in this thread, but i found their comments annoying.  I definatly was not critizing the game, as I have said many times I enjoy ME 2, i just have a problem with the Shooter Portions of the game which I did not have in ME 1 and I wished Bioware would considering giving more aid to players who are RPG players and not Shooters.

Im glad the woman from Bioware got that, I just wish more people would understand they are two different skill sets, for someone who plays shooters im sure this is nothing, something 'simple' like aiming is easy peasy but for people who do not play shooters at all, it makes the game even more difficult then it should be.  ME 1 had a great aiming assist feature that I found great enough i could play the game on normal and some of the harder difficulties but that is impossible with ME 2 that seems to go full on shooter with almost no aid.

I hate the "Auto-Aim" Concept on ANY game Regarless whether it is an RPG or FPS or etc. It takes away the "realistic" element of the game and besides, it makes the game easier too.

Great so you don't have to use it. I on the other hand suck at shooters and don't enjoy dying multiple times in a single player RPG.

last time i checked aiming with thumbsticks requires a brain, guess where all your reactions origionate from? you guessed it, THE BRAIN, unless you're talking about a different kind of brain then i would understand... NOT

are you suggesting that people who have jobs that require only manual labour to not be using their brains?

really now... who's being childish

and who are you to speculate that we have problems with the solving missions, its just you

and WHEN IN THE WORLD is it implied that gunplay or even VIDEO GAMES are important in the real world for those not in the business

i wonder how you managed to buy the game? did your parents get it for you? cause you write with the logic of a high-schooler

oh yeah if aiming a gun in a game is so MINDLESS yet you find it difficult
what does that say about you? LMAO

Like ive said about 17 times in this thread....there is a difference between suggesting an add-in into the game, and defacing the game because you cant play it without that "add-in".

You seem to be one of the only people who didnt understand. Even the woman from bioware understood my post.
But then you must be a fanboy, they are the only group of people who hear even a sliver of negativity and jump to conclusions like assuming people are defacing their game.

Actually, that's up to debate, I feel. 360 has the aim-assist, the PC doesn't. That's probably part of the reason why I had so much more difficulty aiming in ME1: I was playing it on the 360 at the time. I got ME2 for the PC and for me the gunplay feels right at home. But I also play a *ton* of Modern Warfare so that definitely plays into it :P

Anyways, I was simply curious, I just wanting to see from what perspective your disappointment was coming from.

My problem isn't with the lack of auto aim, but with the parallax error caused by the third person over the shoulder camera. When I right-click zoom, my cursor is pointing somewhere other than where it was centered before I right clicked.

This is unfortunately an almost impossible problem to solve mathematically. We did our best, but there are cases where there is drift. Most of the time you should not have significant drift. You'll have less drift if you're aiming straight forward relative to than  cover you're currently taking. You'll be more likely to get significant drift if you've rotated more than 45 degrees to aim. If anyone knows of a game that handles this really well please PM me and I'll check it out.

Does this issue only happen on PC?   I'm only asking out of curiousity, because I play on an xbox and I've never noticed any of this sort of drift in this or any other TPS game.   Is it just something I've been compensating for without noticing it?

Depends on what you are used to. Personally, I can't stand console shooters. I hate using controllers for those types of games, but I know plenty of people who feel the opposite. Its a skill that takes time to develop. I've been playing FPS since the early 90s on the PC so all my skill from them comes through a keyboard and a mouse. If you don't let yourself get frustrated and take it slow and easy you can develop the skill to play the game well. You can't just pop the game in and expect to be perfect at it from the get-go. There is a learning curve to shooters, especially for adults who simply aren't used to them. The problem is that it sounds like you just want to give up because you're frustrated. Stick with it for a while and let yourself learn.

EDIT*** THIS IS FOR LORDRIKER

u see i do understand where you are coming from.....but ure not getting the point.............all i want you to do, is say what you HAVENT been saying.  say that the game is a great game......but u think an auto aim would be good for ppl that have a hard time playing.  Admit that the PROBLEM (allthough not a negative one) is you...not the game.  YOU need the auto aim to make the game easier for YOU, the game doesnt need an auto aim because the GAME is bad.  I see everything that u are saying and have no problem with it....the only problem i have is the fact that you are blaming the game for your (for whatever reason) lack of ability to play.  If you think an auto aim will help you, fine......but dont blame the game itself because YOU have trouble playing it.

I don't understand how people try to stop insults and flamebaiting by doing THE EXACT SAME THING.

Mass Effect 2 doesn't have auto aim! Oh, no!! Hmph... grrr...!! Not really... :P

So far, I'm having no troubles combat-wise and am playing through easily when it comes to shooting. It really isn't hard: you point and shoot... sometimes you gotta wait for the right moment but it doesn't any more difficult than that. Practice is all... it's not like it's a technical horror.
