I used infiltrator my first ME2 playthrough and I think it's perfect. During one of the missions you can grab to a BA sniper...a sniper only one other squad member can get through an upgrade. Not to mention how many times the cloak saved my life. Incinerate is a very useful power too, absolutely obliterates husks.

My Shepard is a combat specced Infiltrator
Disrupter Ammo makes any synthetic encounter a breeze.
Assassin Cloak makes it so that if you are cloaked the next shot fired will be a major critical, killing most creatures with a single shot.
Assassin class makes your bullets hit harder, and when you use the sniper rifle time slows down for a few seconds, making it easy to line up shots. Almost makes it like a point and click adventure.
I played with the bonus skills a bit. I wanted something to make up for my lack of being able to deal with Biotics. Reave helps, Warp Bullets too. However at the end of the game I went with Tungsten since while there are a few biotic collectors, most are just meaty fodder.
My next playthrough will be a diff class, but if I do infiltrator again (and I will because I want to end the game with no love interest like ME1) I'll do an operative style one. Which means making use of Inferno and AI Hack. Will probably advance skill Neural Shock.

I picked up sniper rifle on my adepts but I ended up useing it more then my biotics, so I think I will take up infiltrator and just go for the whole shebang this time.
