There is something to their universal attractiveness, though. Even Mordin comments on how it was strange that he was once attracted to an Asari.
Are the asari using mind control to make themselves look attractive to anyone?

Further proof that this is not the case: Listen to the krogan in one of the main 'cities', I think it's the Citadel. He says something like, "I don't get the big deal about asari, they're too soft and squishy, nothing to hold on to." So obviously asari look and feel like asari to them.
Also; I'm pretty sure the mystery drink thing at Illium is your typical "booze makes women hotter" thing. It seemed to me she was supposed to be unattractive.
Well just so you know, the mind can be tricked so profoundly that even if something is not shaped the way you think it is visually, upon touch you will still percieve it in the shape you saw it as. The mind is a powerful thing and controls everything about you including your senses (even some reflexes despite most only travelling to the spine).
