Well, I just finished up ME2 and I lost only Legion and I wanted to see if anybody had any ideas why/how I lost him.
I will explain my choices.
First off I have everything on my ship so nobody was lost when jumping through the Omega 4 relay.
When I had to pick a tube crawler and a team leader I picked Legion as a tube crawler and Maranda as the leader.
Both survived.
When I picked an escort for the survivors I picked Garrus, he survived.
When I had to pick a biotic and a team leader I picked Jack as the biotic and Legion as the leader.
Legion was shot right as we sealed the doors shut.
I heard that the 2nd time you pick a team leader their survival is random. Now I don't now if that's ture and was wondering if anybody knew what I needed to do differently or who I should have picked as the team leader to make sure they survive.

IMO I think that it depends on your squads Loyalty, and your squads approval. Legion doesn't have much leader experience, so that might be the cause of his death. Try picking a character that has Leadership traits and see what happens.

Ah so if I pick Miranda again she will have a better chance of living?
I was thinking it was like that too but some moron told me it was random.
Also I forgot to mention they are all loyal to me.

wait... besides loyalty you need approval? When I did Miranda's quest it said still loyal to Cerberus.... am I screwed or is that just dialogue?

Well no. Sometimes when you make a choice a character doesn't like, they voice their opinions. I don't know if that has anything to do with the way they react overall, but I've played the game 3 times and all of my endings were different. I picked mainly the same people for the same things. All in all, I think it might just be random?

I always used gerrus as the distraction team leader and he survives I got the achivment 3rd run through got better survival rate each time lost 2 first time 1 second had all the third
