According to Samara, only Purebloods can get the genetic defect to become Ardat-Yakshi, so no amount of her fooling around with Shepard, or any other non-asari, should produce one.

hang on... in ME1 when you interrogate Liara about her parents... she mensions it might have been another asari as well as Benezia...

Liara is definitely a Pureblood, but I can tell you from ME1 playthroughs that she is no Ardat-Yakshi, since sex with her didn't kill any of the Shepards that went that route.

It's not a choice, Ardat-Yakshi kill when they join because of a genetic defect. They can't not do it, this is why they're sterile.

You don't become an Ardat-Yakshi by being ruthless. It has nothing to do with personality. Morinth is unusually socialpathetic even by Ardat-Yakshi standards.

If Liara were an Ardat-Yakshi it would've manifested by now (at maiden stage).

I believe the codex says there's a 1% chance of a Pureblood being an Ardat-Yakshi?

Not every pureblood asari you run across is a candidate for Liara's father. :pinched:

I think Mornith is Liara's father. :P
But really the choice between the two is mostly cosmetic and morals.

I was disappointed that I didn't even get a choice. The dialogue wheel never came up. Shepard just grabbed Morinth's arm. Maybe I was too paragon.

Odd, I was 100% Paragon at this point and I still got the option. (Wierdly the sound cut out during it.)

That happens to allot of people do the mission on disc one and the sound doesn't cut out I found that out on accident. Also I pick Samara, her half romance is the best in the game. Morith's is slightly terrifying.

Yeah, I know, which makes her refusal to get it on with shep a little strange.  I'm personally fond of the conspiracy theory that Samara is an AY as well (presuming that AY CAN actually have kids, it just kills their mate in the process of conception).  AY are the only Asari we've seen with mind-affecting biotics beyond a simple mind-meld, and Reave's description specifically mentions it causes psychic trauma in the target.

AY's are sterile. They can't have kids. (either as the mother or the father) - That's one of the reasons Samara decries Morinth's claim as the 'evolution' of the Asari. It doesn't do a species any good to evolve into a form where they can't reproduce.

Samara's refusal to get it on with Shep has nothing to do with her fears of producing another AY, and everything to do with her devotion to her code.

Untrue

They can abstain, granted its like asking a junkie to quit, but its possible. They are not powerless to their psycopathy.

Actully if u ask Samara the code does not forbid romance. And there is something between them as if u pressure her a lil she tells u "If i was a young maiden id throw u down right down here on the deck" Or close to that. But as she tells u she is closing in on her Patriarch stage of life and for the past 400 years she has been hunting down her daughter.

I really want to know what happens plot-wise if you take Morinth into ME3, but ever since I read another thread around here that pointed out that she's effectively a rapist serial killer, I have a hard time choosing her for my team. I mean, assassins, mercs, thieves, vigilantes, and bloodthirsty warriors I can get behind ... but the idea of hanging with a rapist just doesn't fit with any Shepard I've ever been interested in playing. Maybe someday I'll finish ME2 with "evil Shep," though, who went out of his way to kill every colonist on Feros in ME1... (I didn't enjoy playing evil Shep, but again, I wanted to see what'd happen with him in ME2.)

you get a choice to kill one or the other, any difference between the 2? or is it a matter of renagade or pargon that makes the difference? i play the paragon, so im assuming i should kill morinth.

I prefer Morinth.  Controlling organics is sweet.

Back to the original topic...look, Morinth makes Jack look downright stable. She's cool in an "evil Spike" kind of way, but trusting her is literally trusting a serial killer addict. I mean, she knows that your death might doom the entire galaxy, herself included, and she still tries to seduce you. Plus, Samara is awesome, and betraying her is supremely vile even for a Renegade Shepard.

I think this similar to star wars Episode III Revenge of the sith.

Save Samuel L Jackson or save a weird guy with a creepy monster face who shoots lightning out of his hands.

Well the choice is clear
