PC's (well mine anyway) are a constant spend, new graphics cards to keep up with the latest game developments, a decent gaming mouse, gaming keyboard is all cost and some just cant afford the cost. Console 1/4 of the price of a decent gaming system and thats it you dont need to do anything but plug it in, yes you get so much more with a PC but why bother spending that amount of money when you don't need anything more than something to play games on!
Consoles have their place in this world as do PC's (thankfully or i wouldn't have a job) you just need to step back and look at the bigger picture and stop acting like children who have been denied ice cream for crying out loud

Nice boasting![]()
Aside from the fact that you can hook your computer to both the 47'' HD TV and to the $2000 (lol) 5.1 home theater, ans still play sitting on your livingr room.
Good job in wasting all that money on the TV. You get a better visual area on a 22'' full HD monitor that costs 200 dollars and isn kept at usual monitor distance. I sure don't envy all the squinting you must be doing to read your dialogue options. Not to mention that gaming monitors have better refresh rates, contrast and overall image quality than most TV's out there. Never seen a crisp screen as that of my new LG.
Yyyesss... because I OBVIOUSLY must have teeny tiny text to read for dialogue if I don't go with your setup. You and I both know you're not that ignorant to think that selecting dialogue options on DA:O 360 is going to be teeny tiny on a 47" tv.
You call it a waste of money, but I think even you would get a kick out of my setup. Klipsch 5.1 speakers were $1200 alltogether, including a $400 subwoofer. The Denon receiver I got was about $600 on top of that.
Hooked up to my receiver are my Xbox 360, and my AppleTV. AppleTV is connected via Cat5 wired network to my PC, and is able to stream music and video straight from my PC onto my TV.
Now I will be the first to admit it's not as good as a setup with a Blu-Ray player. There are dozens of setups that LOOK better, particularly sitting in front of a HD gaming monitor, but it still looks great, sounds awesome, and is extremely convenient. 100% commercial-free TV, movies on demand, No DVD's to take up space on my bookshelf, and comfortable video gaming, all from my couch. For me, it's perfect.
I knew my system was good when I got noise complaints from the 14th floor of my apartment complex because of the bass vibrations from firing a Mulcher gatling gun in Gears 2.
Edit: You know what, you're right Abriael, we DO need an eyeroll smiley.

Thats.. nice? *shakes head* I fail to see the point really. It's actually funny that I'm even talking here (day off, both of my sisters work so I'm bored and talking from a cell phone in a park lol) but I don't understand why people are determined to sink so much.. effort? Is that the right word.. into perfecting a gameplay experience. I always thought the game was to be played for the game, story, whatever. How sharp the picture is isn't very important to me. The Macbook I bought my sister has AMAZING definition.. But I wouldn't play games on it, too much work. Consoles are easy to move, hook up, play anywhere at any distance as long as you can see the screen. As for squinting, I don't do any, just lower the resolution to make the text bigger when I'm playing at range. Or use the handy dandy R3 zoom control
Im still waiting for my Xbox 360 I sent in to get replaced, its been about almost 3 weeks.Ive been through 2 of em,and both lasted about 3 months. One got the red ring, the other I really dont know kept saying the power outlet was bad,but kept saying that to every outlet I plugged in.So Im pretty much done with the 360 unless the 3rd one somehow degrades in 3 months.

Yay for old and surpassed legends. As a matter of fact the "hardware race" on PC development has slowed down considerably. Almost stopped. PC simply have reached a stage of maturity in which a graphics card released almos 2 years ago (geforce 9800 GTX), and definitely on the affordable side, will run you any game released at maximum detail with no hitch. As a matter of fact I didn't buy any new hardware for my PC in one year and an half, and My PC will outperform any console in graphical output
Anyway, off to download the God of War 3 demo I go... oh. Wait, I don't need to go anywhere, given that I have everything at my fingertips, no need for big TVs in the living room
@Goth Skunk: yes, we got it, you have an awesome surplus income. Personally, my neighbors never complain with my $120 5.1 headset, and it even blocks out any sound from outside. Some like to splurge, some others like to get the best bang for their buck

As for the mods, I understand the extra hairstyles sure. I'm not even sure what the vibrant colors does but I think it looked fine as it was. The UI rebuilt is exactly that, making the game easier to play. The year I played WoW (before the 'hardcore' stuff started and I turned out hating playing it because people are retarded) the UI was fine. The only mods I used were recount and omen because being a well spec'd AND geared ret paladin I generated insane amounts of threat

lol, Your brother is a geek then. If someone other than myself was cooking dinner for me for a change (never happens, my sisters can't cook) I'd quit immediately to go eat it. Anything less is an insult and it's not like the game isn't going to be there after dinner is eaten and the dishes are washed and put away.

Why judgemental on the brother?I have plenty of friends that do that, skip out and stay inside due to playing games and cant stop.I had a friend who skipped varsity practice he said "tell coach jones I wont be able to make practice, got a fever' In truth though he was playing modern warfare 2 on the 360.Again just because someone skips dinner while playing a game it doesnt mean his a geek.

The moral of the story is: Get a PS3. The 360s 1st and 2nd releases had a 54% failure rate. The new ones STILL carry a 24% failure rate. The PS3 has carried a steady 10.4% failure rate largely due to heat issue and people are stupid. Or get a Wii, which is a blast imo and it only has a teeny tiny 4% failure rate, largely due to little kids

My main point (which you completely bypass in order to stand on your PC Extremist soap box again) was that the cheapest off the shelf PC is still more expensive than a console and will not give you the smooth game play or the graphics quality you get on a console.

I hardly think building a minimal UI (less on the screen then the standard WoW UI) makes it easier. It makes it harder for an average player, or just more useful to a seasoned player. As for Omen, yeah, that's making it easier for you right there. I never used Omen (played a Restoration shaman for like 95% of my raiding career, then Enhancement for the last bit... and Enhancement is hard pressed to pull aggro off of a tank in a raid, even with great gear for where I was). I used kgPanels, SimpleMinimap and the like. Asthetics mods, mainly. Anything I used merely changed the look of what I would have already had available, or hid what I didn't need.
All the Vibrant Colors one really does is give stronger tattoo colors and more hair/eye color choices.

Lemme quickly correct that for you...
The moral of the story is to not bother at all...save your money and build a decent PC instead
To those whining, It amazes me how much loyalty console owners have....you moan at bioware for a botched release of a simple DLC...yet do you go over to the Sony and MS forums to constantly **** and moan about your crappy console that breaks, breaks, breaks and breaks?
Lol, no didnt think so....
Anyway...back on topic....RtO out yet?

I'm generally sticking something new in my pc every 6 months or so be it a new hard drive, more rams etc, graphics card was the last thing i upgraded but thats cos my nvidia card just enjoyed black screening wow, eve, poser.. well anything really.
My main point (which you completely bypass in order to stand on your PC Extremist soap box again) was that the cheapest off the shelf PC is still more expensive than a console and will not give you the smooth game play or the graphics quality you get on a console.
Made my PC for ~$500 two years ago. Haven't had to replace anything - the most I've done is add more RAM (1 gig was just bad...). Store bought PCs are always overly expensive, in any case, and building a PC isn't *that* hard. I picked it up in HS in a class where I was the only girl, and thus not even allowed to touch the PC that I had to share with a guy.
In fact, I run DA on a 7800 vid card and it still runs beautifully. Just 'cause the newest version of a video card or other part comes out doesn't mean you have to have it to run things. Haven't had any problems with it shutting down/ being unable to pick up on anything I've put in, either.
So.. $100 more than the console (or was it about the same at release? don't buy consoles), for better performance, stability, and support (for this game, anyway) without needing to buy an extra HD (looking at you, xbox 360) or sacrifice parts of the original port.

actually i'm 6'1'' The desk on the left is the console/second PC one, it's keyboards are less used (or not used at all when I play consoles) so it's basically just a monitor-shelf.
And your monitors... they're so TINY!
32" monitor here.
22 inches is pretty much the ideal size when you keep them at short distances actually, and they have the best quality/price ratio.
@Calians: you have good eyes mate
