I didn't play Mass Effect 1 , all the way through. I will admit I am new at this, so I noticed my actions have a Paragon or Renegade effect. Untill recently this wasn't important to me, untill I wanted to perform an action and couldn't because one of these were not high enough.

From what I gathered

Paragon points are gained for compassionate and heroic actions. The
Paragon measurement is colored blue. Points are often gained when
asking about feelings and motivations of characters. You start the game
with 3 open Charm ranks.

and

Renegade points are gained for apathetic and ruthless actions. The
Renegade measurement is colored red. Many sarcastic and joking remarks
are assigned Renegade points. You start with 3 open Intimidate ranks.

Naturally I got this information from this website, http://masseffect.wi...m/wiki/Morality

So I ask Which one is better?

And second question, does being high in one or other affect romances in a postive way or neg?

ME2 does not have charm or intimidate

R/P is not entirely evil/good, you can get through the game just fine playing the "hero" or the "****". I prefer renegade myself for cheaper prices (red options on shop owners) on items for example.

You can get though the game just fine either way, some people wimp out on evil choices in games for whatever reason it may be (morality, [insert more and better examples here]) but its only pixels.

Off topic: The fanboys for tali, garrus, liara make me laugh tho, everytime I hear garrus's voice reminds me of the superbowl commercial and the immersion is lost. So be mean to them, try to get them killed in the suicide mission. Talis death makes me giggle

Can't you also get a discount on items as a Paragon as endorsing your name for their ads?

Renegade gets the same discout, presumably via threats.

Some of the Renegade interrupts should not be missed as they can make sections of the game interesting and easier.

Yeah, but renegade option is a lot less annoying.

Pick Renegade! Paragon you have to be so nice and its very annoying. Renegade though you can do whatever you want. Oh yeah there is a consequence being Renegade though. You turn uglier.

Hardly a consequence. Let Chakwas upgrade her medical facilities and she'll patch those scars right up for you.

Yes, but it's not as fun as the Renegade option, and its basically repeating the same endorsement for all shops.

They upped the writing for this one - Renegade is still as hardass as ever, but Paragon gets some excellent dialogue and actions too, a step up from ME1.
