Oghren kept Sten company back at camp. I'm more interested in seeing who the new characters are.

Oghren is the bestestest! I'm surprised he's the new companion, I would bet on Morrigan for sure but Oghren's my fav so I won't complain.

I'll elaborate on why I like Oghren (lol Oggy!). I know a lot don't, but I expected not to either. my first playthrough, I got him late because I did Orzammar last. The next playthroughs, I got him earlier, even before Wynne. I don't appreciate all his humor (poop jokes, etc, not really my style).

I'm trying not to go into spoilers, but everyone (minus Dog and Shale) stays with you with a certain "goal" in mind. I read one of Oghren's epilogues and I was so moved I was in tears. Oghren just seems like he wants to go along and is a strong warrior who wants to help you, since you helped him out when no one else wanted to. As I mentioned before, he's loyal. You can count on him unless you seriously do try to get him to leave. I like that.

Sure, he's not romancable. You don't get the chance to "really" know him, so I can understand maybe some don't really feel that emotional towards him. But I'll be ready to have him on my team in Awakenings if it really IS him returning

At this point, I really wish they'd just let us know who it is so we all have the remaining 40+ days to get our ****ing and moaning out of our systems before we go out and buy the game anyway.

Very good point and I could add that it's a plus that he didn't bored me with a tedious romance!

Myself I have to find the way to get him sooner. Win soon the first fight in this area was ok but the fight after was another problem. Not to mention some more fights probably required before to be able to get him. Well not the good place for details.

1. It is, in the most recent trailer you get a nice close up of him in your group. Saying it's not Oghren in the newest trailer is akin to saying Alistair wasn't Alistair in the first trailer. There is no doubt he is a temp companion at the least.

2. Actually I think it is possible to kill him, I've never seen it, and it's debaited, but the strat guide says you can... the thing is it's just really really hard. You have to out of your way... and then really out of your way. *SPOILERS* Supposidly you need to get his approval to -100 and goad him into a fight. Then you have to convonce him to stay. Then you have to get it to -100 agian and dual him AGIAN. At which point you have the option of killing him,

Bottom line, he's popular (albiet not as much so as Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana) and out of all the companions he's in the best most consetent and stable position to return.

3. *shrugs with you* Can't help ya with that my friend.

Which trailer are you talking about. I've watched the trailer for the expansion 5 times and the only one I see is Allistair. I don't really care who it is, I'm excited to find out. but all this talk of seeing Oghren has me baffled as I don't see him at all. Can you give the exact time he appears? I see a dwarf in the first few seconds with red facial hair, but he doesn't talk and there's no way you can factually say "that's Oghren".

"The Queen of the Blackmarsh" trailer, perhaps? It is fairly new.

Was hoping for Allistair or Morrigan... those were my 2 faves by FAR. Og isn't bad though. Atleast he isn't Zev or Sten... hated those guys.

Oghren would not be my first choice either. It would be intriguing if the choice was made based on conversations you had post-coronation... I have played through twice as different types and those conversations went differently depending on how much the character liked me, etc. For example, once Zevran would stay, the second time he was going to come and go...



Other than Alistair, my favorite characters were Zevran and Shale. Sten was also interesting, once you got him to actually have a reasonable conversation with you.



Having a character return reminds me of when I was hoping for Minsk to return (butt-kicking for goodness!!). I was so disappointed when it was that little creature instead...hope they don't do this to us again.

I guess this was what he's talkin aboutabout 15 seconds in it's Oghren in your group. It settled it in my mind [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie] It's Oghren or its his identical twin brother who really creepily has the same hair and beard style. Maybe it's his flaming brother with a lisp, "I don't drink achlohol, it goes strait to my hips, and god knows their thick enough as it isss!"



Anyone else think neon light dragon is lame. Whats he gonna do, glow me to death?

You didn't make a dwarf that looked like that unless you used a mod because Oghren's hair isn't selectable.

Can we stop grasping at straws now? The only 'argument' left is that Bioware put Oghren in the trailer in order to fool people into thinking it was Oghren then 'surprise' them when they load up the game and it's not. Wow, what an amazing marketing tactic to ****** off people who hate Oghren now then ****** off people who like him later.... Not going to happen.

There is something unique about him afterall!!!

It also makes more sense as to why people are convinced that he is the Dwarf seen in the trailer... I never knew about the hair.

I don't really think it is a "trick" by the developers, though...

Funny thing about this thread is that even if it is 50/50 for and against Oghren... then those who are against him are further divided into eight different camps.

Looks like if Bioware did read this they would be confirmed in their choice to pick him...

I still think that the dwarf in the trailer is a red herring, but that's just me. We know for sure when BioWare tells us.



I never "liked" Oghren, he seemed too stereotypical, but I don't "hate" him. If it's the dwarf who is returning, then so be it. It doesn't prevent me from buying the game. I like almost all the characters in origins, but the story was, for me atleat, spectacular. So if Bioware promises to continue making such a good stories, I'll buy their games. Even if the second expansion's old favorite would be Sten's and Shale's illegimate son, Robert.



Please, does it really matter that much? If Oghren is the playable companion and I'm sure plenty of other old characters make cameos. Maybe even the one you romanced. So let's not get axing anybody, okay?

After the Queen of Blupp Trailer I also think, that it will be Oghren. What a pity, for me definitly the most boring one. Well, he can tell his fart jokes to his hand in the camp, like he already did during my whole main game.

Why is this thread still going on after twelve pages? All you have to do is look over the thread to see Oghren has allot of fans. Or look at the big poll thread, oghrens the fourth most desired character ad hes holding fourth place by a large margin. Hasn't this thread been disproven ten times over by now? Besides were all smart enough to know any character would get some major bashage if they were in oghrens place. Save maybe dog, how can you hate him  <3<3. Hmmmm, why can't anyone ever be happy for other people on forums?

There will always be those who can only speak of things they enjoy in the context of dissing things they don't--or just plain like to ruin other people's fun. It's a shame, but it happens in forum after forum, not just here. It's the adult equivalent of 'my dad can beat up your dad' and just as mature.

Note: I'm not referring to the OP here at all. That person wasn't bashing, was genuinely curious about the choice, and was capable of acknowledging that Oghren does have fans without putting them down.

That´s something called feedback. You don´t have to take the thread title literally and so there´s no need to close it as soon the first ones post, that they like the dwarf.

Feel free to open a "GREAT, THE MASTER OF PUBERTAL HUMOUR IS BACK" thread. Surely I won´t be bashing him there.

Because it's pointless, and won't do any good. I believe Oghren is in there because he's integral to the story being told in Awakening. They're not going to change the plans they've got now, when the expansion is almost finished. Be realistic. If anything, it'll just tell them we wouldn't want him back in the next expansion pack... But I'm sure they know that by now.

I suppose your right but I still don't see why people are so mean about it. I just don't get why people have to insult things others like. I wasn't a Zevran fan but he has fans and people who like so I wouldn't rip on him even though hes not my cup of tea.
