Even if it concerns the after after after next DLC.
It´s not a big secret that they will be further expansions.
The longer the thread is, the more people tell their opinion, the truer is the result. Even if it is pro Oghren (wich is not my side) it´s interesting for me, why somebody wants him back.
Edit:
No, I don´t begrudge Oghrens fans his come back. If someone embosomed him, it´s still better if they had forsaked all players. He simply would´n´t be my choice because I didn´t like him and I´m disappointed not to see some pixel guys I took into my heart.

Hehe, your kidding yourself if the devs take these forums seriously. There was a huge thread dedicated to tearing apart leliana, of course truth be told she seems to be the most popular. Biowares smarter then to listen to us crazies. Go look at the ME2 forums. The game is selling like crazy, 10/10 reviews up the BUM... all you see on the forums is thread upon thread dedicated to how much it sucks.
People on this forum are a very very very very small minotirty of the player base. The truth can rarely be found here and the devs know this.

yep, feeling the same. if it's too expensive/whatever to bring everyone, how about bring no one? at least so all people would be equally pissed:PQuerne wrote...

Ya,
like I said, the forums represent a very very very very small minority
of the fanbase, composed mainly of the hardcore fans. Fan feedback is
very important, but the devs know they gotta get a proper sample group.
An EXTREME example I know but the very basics apply- it's like
politics, you don't base predictions off a very small demographic who
all share allot in common.

I'm a fan of Oghren as well.
I got him first on my current play through so I could have him with me more.

Your right, I don't envy the devs, thats for sure. They have to shift through so much s*** to get to the truth that their brains must want to EXPLODE!

Yes, it is a small minority what doesn´t mean it is not representative somehow. Things discussed here are usually already over, and ME2 had great valuations in the press so I´m not surprised that its selling well. To be honest, critizing DA:O is critizism at highest stage.
It´s natural that threads usually concern things player are unhappy about. Happy players play.
Because I see Bioware guys posting and explaining things in threads very often, I think that they care indeed. Up to a point of cause, you can´t elimnate world hunger and develope a personal game for every whiner in the world.
I know about at least 3 people who bought this game because I told them about and not because of the marketing campaign. So forums and relations between players are.. a mass effect.

Why shouldn´t people who are disappointed about the choice post it here or in another threads?
That´s something called feedback. You don´t have to take the thread title literally and so there´s no need to close it as soon the first ones post, that they like the dwarf.
Feel free to open a "GREAT, THE MASTER OF PUBERTAL HUMOUR IS BACK" thread. Surely I won´t be bashing him there.
Exactly. There's no reason for that. It's just pointless kicking of sand.

lets face it, i think me2 rocks, but if i read the forums before buying the game id be a tad hesitant to do so, if i took the posts seriously. and really, bioware has people they pay to play the game and tell them whats on there mind so. and to be honest and true to everyone here, origins has a ton of characters that i would cut there throat if it let me have the option. and Oghrens one of those idiots. i mean, i do love the story lines in the game, but really, most of them are idiots that got themselves stuck. i think shale said it perfectly....
Shale: "There was a man in the village who reminded me of the drunken dwarf."
Oghren: "They had some dwarves just like me, huh?"
Shale: "No. None of the dwarves were similar. They were quiet and respected, more or less. No, the one I remember was a human. He vomited in the street constantly. Then he wandered into a snowstorm and froze to death."
Oghren: "Huh? And how is that like me?"
Shale: "Did I say similar? I meant I hoped he was similar."
and facts being facts, id like to see someone else come back that had more meaning to the story. and i really wana chase down that emo punk ms. no happy ending... meh, if only they used there "they will come back if you haven't killed them" policy in this game.

On my subsequent plays through the game, I had to force myself to use these four -- but use them I did -- and in all four cases I was very impressed by the characterizations and deeper discussions I had with them. They were, all four, much better characters than I originally gave them credit for. The "payoff" was worth it.
I am absolutely certain that the payoff for the Awakenings companions, including the returning favorite, will be great. My only hope is that each of them will come with a SUBSTANTIVE personal quest that helps bring them to life. I hear ME2 does a really good job with this.

Zevran does it to make her uncomfortable though he doesnt actually mean it

Would we? Or would you just say that was also a red herring? Maybe they'll just lie to us to make us think it's Oghren.KneeTheCap wrote...
You people could try to make cute puppy eyes at BioWare so that they would reveal the identity of that old favorite :-D
I still think that the dwarf in the trailer is a red herring, but that's just me. We know for sure when BioWare tells us.

I think most people don't like him to return because they were hoping too see some other character. The whole hype about the "one returning companion" is what made people dislike Oghren so much.

By the way who would you guys like to see on the expansion?
Zevran. No question.
As to the original topic of this thread: I like Oghren, but I do have to agree that he's lacking a bit of depth. I think that could be made up for if he's the returning companion in Awakening. Although if I had my druthers we'd get a campanion of our choosing, based on the imported warden. I hold out little hope for this, it would simply take up too much time and money for Bioware to do it.

Actually, games.tiscali.cz claims, based on an interview (I don't know which one, though), that DA:A will be "the biggest expansion to a game Bioware has ever released, longer than some full games, and bigger beyond compare than all other DLC for Dragon Age"

Alistair, Leliana and Zevran should be selectable based on your ending. Ohgren and Wynne should make at least cameos, if not direct party members, if your ending permits it (they have certain endings where this would be possible). You are right that this is a lot to ask, but don't forget that this is a full-blown expansion that gets a boxed version and everything, not a simple DLC package.

Sten, Dog, and Shale will be very unhappy to be left out

*mild spoilers ahead*
A fair point, but Sten doesn't really have an ending that would permit staying him with the Warden. Shale would be possible, but she's also DLC and not everyone has her. Dog should be of course included, it's not like he has a lot of VA or anything
