Just took Oghren to the Gauntlet. People who see him as too shallow should do that some time. As this is the no spoiler section not saying more.
A few people pointed out that oghren is nnot often given much of a chance by players.many people bashing him haven't even given him a remote chance. A few people said they never even travled with him. I don't think he's a deep character like Morrigan but I don't think hes shallow. hes like a normal guy but a dwarf. I like that. I can relate to him more then the rest of the crazy cast. don't judge a book buy its cover or first five pages people
To true I noticed that today with what he says at the Gauntlet, it really does show he does have feeling under the drunk exterior of him and his awesome stash and hair,
Honestly though Oghren is my most used Companion at the moment. I play a Shapeshifter / Bloodmage Mage and use him as pretty much a tank with him being immune to stuns and knock downs. He can dish out quite a bit of burst damage and is a bit more useful IMO then Sten is since he can take advantage of 2 specs while Sten has more points to use in other Warrior traits he still lacks a spec putting him at a disadvantage.
I think also people are just inconsiderate whiners and complainers, we will always have them for everything. Everyone loves the romance characters because they got to know them knowing there would be some "Hawt" action at the end of it. (Which was laughable IMO) Oghren isn't romanicible but kind of a jerk which is what Dwarf player and lover would expect from his Dwarf companion, you see Oghren fills his purpose to appeal to those of us who are looking for manly stout short characters who would rather bash in heads and drink then deal with emotional tension.

I'd like to see Oghren, but I would also like to see a Dwarf Rogue, maybe a Dwarven Mage (even if *she* is unique as a NPC).
TBH, I just want a four Dwarf squad.
I second that!

One thing Bioware have always done well is the PC and NPC relationship and stories, I look forward to seeing what they do with Oghren

I want Oghren to come back, therefore your theory is a bit flawed.
Same here.
For all x, x does not want Oghren <---- does not hold true.
For some x, x does not want Oghren <---- works.

I bet Oghren gets reformed, though, but I kind of hope he doesn't. He kicked ass.

his voice acting was great, bioware did an amazing job characterizing such a believable character
not only that, but look at his beard of epic. You can't play dragon age without that kind of facial hair

I'd rather Morrigan, Leilanna, Alistair, Dog, Wynne, or Sten came back instead of him.
Its not a question of me not liking him, its the fact that I like other characters so much better...
I am really curious as to whether or not they really thought he was a favorite or if they just chose him because they wanted to explore him more (a decent reason).

From the Q&A in the awakening forum:
"Oghren was brought back for a variety of reasons. Most people did “Paragon of Her Kind” late in their Origins playthrough so even though he’s a great character he didn’t get much air time. A lot of folks loved him (not the least of which was the Awakening team) so we wanted to reprise his role and give him more time in the limelight. He’s a great addition to Awakening, adding levity at moments to otherwise heavy stories."

He was the first party member I got after Lothering, so I have had him for a while now. I am happy to see him in the Xpac. Mind you, it would be nice to have one or two others join depending on how you finished the game.
But hey! Still looking forward to the xpac!

For me, Oghren is just like a drinking pal, who is there for the worst and best moments, that's why I entered Orzammar first in my current game. My dwarf archer gets along with him nicely, and his abilities replace Sten very well, but in my previous games I used sten too much, so I got bored of him.
I'm glad to see him return in awakening, much better than alistair or Wynne (even though I would prefer to see morrigan there..but well, I suppose I'll have another trouble making mage in awakening. It seems that the mages in dragon age cannot be quiet persons, that's for sure).

And there's the fact that he drinks and I don't in real life, which makes it even funnier.
