But... NO one wants Oghren!

I think Oghren will have gone even further down the path to being a respected warrior once again between DAO and Awakening. So I think many more
people will like him in the expansion atleast.

I didn't call you retarded by any means.I was talkin bout the post right below yours. "You can choose the returning character." Apply a bit o' common sense to that and you'll see why that ain't gonna happen.
You can bet they are! I'm sure they come to these forums to get far more laughs then feedback! If i was a bioware dev I would go to these forums for kicks and other non-offcial forums for real feed-back.

I believe the situation is the same in all forums... there are mainly two separate player's branches:
1 - The branch of players who want or hope their romance continue in xpac and therefore adverse the return of Oghren
2 - The branch of players who don't matter romances and therefore agree to Oghren's return
IMHO this is the real situation... and the only reason for this fiery argue....

I don't think I have *ever* seen anyone respond even remotely well to the "returning party member" in Awakening.
I don't think *anyone* wants Oghren as the guy to come back...
In a game full of great personalities and deep emotional investments - he was a 2D cliche thrown in for laughs.
I personally loved how Dwarves were made so they were *not* silly comic reliefs. No beards, plenty of female Dwarves, it was certainly a breath of fresh air.
That was somewhat staled by Oghren.
Now... unless he has some reformed-drinker emotional core that will be a sub plot in DA:A, then I do not think he will be anything other than the comic relief we know - as deep as a packet of chips and a can of pepsi.
As a test... can you think of a character you would prefer *less* than Oghren?
I would prefer Jowan much more, and any other character for that matter, even Dog.
What are people's thoughts? Is there a pro-Oghren lobby out there?
Yeah I think Oghren is great. He was a very pained man who sought solace in Alchohol and comes out of it to lead an honorable life at the end...at least in my cases. Very good loyal companion and if he comes back I will be glad to have him and look forward to his continued character developement.

* If you put one love interest in, everyone else gets shafted, and if you think the boards are ugly now? **Shudder**
* Dog while a good companion, would almost always be overshadowed by a gear wearing party member, Most people would probably not add him to a party except for specific boss fights.
* Sten had a hell of a lot of face time in the Origin's. So much in fact that he has mutiple threads with people wanting him to be a romance. If he was in the expansion, there would be some major expectations, and epilogue wise it does not make much sense.
* Wynn: Not going to put in any spoilers. But Yeah would also not make any sense for her to be in the expansion a few "years" later.
* Secret Character: He's way to invested in Felderan. It would pretty much take him being removed from the country to get him to go. Especially if you have to go to Orlais. Do you really see him going willingly?
If you look at that list, that leaves only Shale and Oghren. And again Shale has almost as much face time as any of the other characters.
If you think about it, it really makes the most sense for Oghren to go.

As for his being a cliche, I have only one thing to say: as cliche-ridden as this game is, the comic relief (the ONLY consistent comic relief, I might add) is that about which you choose to complain?
Sure. Let's have a game full of nothing but creepily devout bards, moral high-ground spinsters and whiny ex-monks. Sounds FUN.

He would work well because he is pretty neutral, he is a friend of the Warden with no real outside agenda except drinking, scoring wenches and getting into trouble in general. He is the type of character that is fun to hangout with, get drunk, have a bar brawl etc.
What I am really curious about is how they will continue the story with a dwarf warden, can not put any spoilers but it's a tricky one..

Every time he's drunk is golden. I especially like it when he claims Dog stole his pants. And then mumbles something about it again after the next, totally unrelated conversation.

Me, I would like DO:A to open with 1 maybe 2 of the original companions, and mini-quests where the Warden can attempt to recruit the remaining members ...
then, you get an explanation in the context of the game as to why any given companion is unavailable ...
... you go looking for Zevran, and find his head on a pike outside the Crow's headquaters ...
... Leliana has returned to the Chantry, and refuses to leave again, clearly disturbed by the fact that Morrigan/Alistair won your heart and not her ...
etc, etc ...

So what you are all saying is since everyone else has a life and can easily be wrote off because this one is doing this and this one is doing that the loser oghren wins by default cause he's the one not doing anything with his life. He could be the one returning then in that case cause he would only have to beat out the dog. lol I hope the writers are a little more intelligent that to put together a storyline a child could write.

OR, this could be the chance for the writers to flesh out a character they felt was too "flat". Jesus Christ, you people act as though you not only KNOW the identity of the returning character, but also have the amazing precognitive abilities to see precisely how they're going to hurt the narrative.
It's two and a half months away. If speculation makes you that upset, may I suggest you find something more constructive to do?

Oghren in particular, would be at the bottom of my list ...
and weather or not they are available on a given play-through driven by said mini-quests, based on
the approval rating that your warden had with the character, and potentially others ...
(assuming that you are continuing from one of your saves)
To say that Oghren has no depth is ignoring the entire "Paragon of her kind" quest line ...
