Not only was Oghren one of my least favorite characters, I hated the way that he was involved in the story.

Leliana, Dog, Sten, all of these we're perfectly interwoven to the plot and in each case you had a CHOICE! That's what was the crappy part of Oghren, out of freaking nowhere he shows up and you HAVE to bring him along.

And I agree with the OP, Oghren is someone you put in you're party when you've fully explored the other companions and their rich personalities. Oghren is a BIG let-down. I hope whoever decided to put him in this is kicking him/her-self.

Because they are both main characters that relate to the main plot. Oghren is not, he is a secondary character and is forced on you.

I didn't care for him much, not good or bad, but I do want someone else coming back for the expansion.

I loved Oghren. They all have their places. Although it was bit of a letdown to see him offer no insights on major events (i.e. BM) that affected his plans.

Oghren was funny and all but apart from the banter between him and wynne i just didnt find him that interesting, least favourite character after zevran, i just cant stand elfs and they seem to weasle their way into all games set in a fantasy world. I want my orlesian queen back! Or certain game dev's will meet an untimely demise....or at least get a good finger wagging.

Meh. If the returning character is someone I like, cool. If not, I guess I'll just be leading an all-new party. So long as Bioware doesn't do something cheap, like kill my chosen romance option off in a starting cut-scene for low-effort angst, I won't be too fussy.

Oghren was my favorite character and a good warrior against darkspawn. I hope he appears again in future modules. It was Sten I found annoying, and useless in battle; I even did his quest but liked him no better and couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Unlike the others, Oghren has yet to earn that respect...

While I appreciate his humility during those somewhat sober moments and the hilarity otherwise, I couldn't help but feel as if he were nothing more than a tag along...  Some stray that just started following my entourage...

I am so glad it's Oghren. He wasn't my favorite, but I DO like him. As opposed to the ever popular ONE dimensional Whineystair.

You can actually tell Morrigan to take a hike before you even reach Lothering.

This thread grew legs! Very interesting reading the comments.

I think there are alot more Oghren fans than I thought... and I think even they are agreeing he is a bit of a cliche.

I wonder if they win, or I win... or we all lose!

I still don't like him...  

Although, I guess it was not such an unpopular choice.

I love Oghren. Seriously, I never tire of him. I must think about the current party members (Awakening)
We know there are 5 new NPCs, correct?
3 we already possibly know : 1 human rogue, 1 human mage, 1 elf wizard. I heard also of one qunari. If so, then my guess is that the fifth is human, and for exclusion and the typical formula 1 elf - 1 dwarf, Oghren would be a plausible choice. BUT! I must consider also this : why would BioWare keep us waiting for the old favorite if they put something incredibly similar to Oghren in the trailer? Note that that char, cannot be ANY other dwarf, because, Oghren has unique hair, beard and color. Also, it appears he is wielding the legion of the dead armor, which is one old set, right? While the PC caries Ageless if I am not wrong.
