Leliana without hesitation.
Same. You could never trust Morrigan with anything. She has the disposition of a cactus. And she isn't sexy redhead. Plus, Leilana is sent by the maker, Morrigan by a, uhhh, not the maker.

In a way I was attracted to Leliana because she wasn't like Morrigan. I generaly tend to play a good character so she started to like me anyway and by contrast she seemed older.
I probably will try to like morrigan more in a mage playthough but that will be later.

* Makes no apologies or excuses for what she is and does.
* States up front her intentions and opinions and doesn't couch them in fluffy words. ("No, I wont do that" means "No, I wont do that")
* Loathes templars - always a plus.
* Has no time for idiots (paging Alistar - and I want to ask Bioware for a "frog spell" DLC. Make those commoners _really_ worry about being turned into toads for making a witch/wizard angry)
* Doesn't ramble on about damn shoes! Hellooo! We are wading through a river of D-spawn blood and you want nice shoes?

Leliana seems very prudish. Probably due to all the religion. Morrigan's a dirty girl. She gets my vote!
You'll change your mind about her being a prude if you get to know her better

Morrigan all the way - probably because she bears more than a few attributes of another favourite mage of mine (Raistlin Majere)
* Makes no apologies or excuses for what she is and does.[/quote]
She should apologize for being an obnoxious, concieted, self absorbed ****.

She does? Have you even played the game, or just stared at the trailers?

She loathes everything and everyone who isn't useful to her.

So she'd never give you the time of day, then, eh?

No, she would rather manipulate you into killing the only person in the game who put their neck on the line to save you and perhaps the entire planet.

Think back to Pulp Fiction, if you've seen that movie. Everyone loved when the two assassins (who were about to carry out a hit) talked about fast food and foot massages. If it's cool in a movie, why not in a game?

Why should she exactly? Because she hurt your Pc's feelings instead of fawning?.
She does? Have you even played the game, or just stared at the trailers?
You haven't by the sound of it. As for me - about 2/3's through second playthrough.
She loathes everything and everyone who isn't useful to her.
And?
So she'd never give you the time of day, then, eh?
I'm sorry could you repeat yourself? I heard "ribbit, ribbit, braaap, croak"?
No, she would rather manipulate you into killing the only person in the game who put their neck on the line to save you and perhaps the entire planet.
.....for their own less than pleasant reasons. And if that is an expample of "sneaky manipulation" (Hey PC type - I want you to kill person X and steal item Y for me) Ferelden is buggered.

People are mad at Leliana for talking about shoes when there's darkspawn to fight? Most people don't have one track minds like that. I find it more realistic when other things come up in conversation from time to time.
Agreed. But neither do people jarringly 'switch between conversations topics' quite that way. I can not comment on the Pulp fiction example as I have not watched it in its entireity.
If I remember correctly, when you visit a marketplace Leliana does basically go "Oooo, lets go shopping". That is understandable for someone from a fashion conscious background, and it does make the NPC seem something other than simple lines of action/response code or a sword waving robot. Ditto with the other NPC responses.
But again context/timing is the big thing and this is a limitation of the program - and sometimes things just dont quite work out right. Talking about shoes in a relatively safe environment - no problem. Talking about "shoes" or "you have nice hair" when your camp has just been overrun by monsters and you are covered head to toe in gore - not so much.
Personally, it is not so much 'hate' (the charcater is just code) as 'ditz'. Like the blonde who compains about breaking a nail when running away from the eldritch abomination. Sure, Leliana has a much more complicated background than that, but the 'ditz' moments just kept popping up at the wrong times.

Of course, Cauthrien...how could we possibly forget her.
Yes, how could you forget a character that's in the game for up to five whole minutes out of however many hours the game took you to get through.
