People are mad at Leliana for talking about shoes when there's darkspawn to fight? Most people don't have one track minds like that. I find it more realistic when other things come up in conversation from time to time.
Agreed. But neither do people jarringly 'switch between conversations topics' quite that way. I can not comment on the Pulp fiction example as I have not watched it in its entireity.
If I remember correctly, when you visit a marketplace Leliana does basically go "Oooo, lets go shopping". That is understandable for someone from a fashion conscious background, and it does make the NPC seem something other than simple lines of action/response code or a sword waving robot. Ditto with the other NPC responses.
But again context/timing is the big thing and this is a limitation of the program - and sometimes things just dont quite work out right. Talking about shoes in a relatively safe environment - no problem. Talking about "shoes" or "you have nice hair" when your camp has just been overrun by monsters and you are covered head to toe in gore - not so much.
Personally, it is not so much 'hate' (the charcater is just code) as 'ditz'. Like the blonde who compains about breaking a nail when running away from the eldritch abomination. Sure, Leliana has a much more complicated background than that, but the 'ditz' moments just kept popping up at the wrong times.
............and don't forget, theres the men NPC's and the **** house if neither apeal to you.
