realistically women wouldnt be doing any fighting

women have been part of the fighting for as long as man can remember.

In japan, women assassins where also umm, call girls, and often turned out to be very skilled and they could get closer to the target that way.

In europe, and such, women could be used as spies, or assassins, some barbain tribes, woemen where allowed to fight.

Without stirring up any scary monsters i have a question.

I havn't gotten the game yet. But the thread poster claims the amount of personal armor types are very limited. "2 types of light armor" I recon there are a bit more, but is it rather limited for each armor type?

And is there any 'official' mod site yet?

Thanks for answers :3

I will again refer you to NWN and its expansions for an example

News flash.  This is not NWN.  News flash.  There have not been any expansions released for DA:O yet.

My God.  The game was JUST freaking released.  A new gaming world.  A predominantly new game engine.  A new toolset.  There is a ton of content in the game.  Give it time.  They have more important things to worry about at this time than catering to your fashion sense.

Look.  Memo to the programmers at bioware who probably have never seen a girl ... NOT ALL GIRLS WANT TO WEAR SKITS!!!! Especially cunning and lithe assassins or tough fighters ... so how about we get some armor in this freaking game for women that DOES NOT involve a skit.  First of all the female versions of the light armour (i am playing a female rogue) are [snipped] ugly .... I DONT WANT TO WEAR A SKIRT ... I want to wear a skin tight body suit of armour, easy for moving and killing ... and what is with the super low neckline on the female armour ... great so i can't get my collar bones protected because the programmers/designers at Bioware are a bunch of sexist pigs with no sense of asthetic taste ....

I am shocked at the lack of vareity in this game ... compared to a game like neverwinter nights where you could dye your armour to suit your personal taste this completely lame game has 2 types of light armour both of which come in one ugly brown colour.  You want a one handed sword ... you got it ... just one mind you ... no variety, no rapier and katana and longsword and shortsword all looking different ... nope just longswords all of which look flippin retarded and oversized ....

thanks bioware. the art-direction/design on the personal items in this game suck

LdyShayna Edit: Watch your language, please.  Thanks!

I just love the internet! It's a magical place where uppity jackasses can have the freedom to say what they want without fear of being slapped and sent back to the kitchen!

Ah. Lets all hold hands and sing now. Thing like this just bring us all closerImage IPB

it appears to be more than 2 from the art page here.

http://social.biowar...index.php/Light

as far as I can see there are 4 teture/skins for light armor, as well as all the different types, studded, rugged and so on.

You cannot reasonably argue that this game has a rich, diverse and asthetically pleasing set of person/equipment items.

Indeed, I cannot. But I can argue that the equipment looks much more like real armor and weapons, or at least effective weapons and armor, which is sort of my entire point. And for some people? That makes a better looking character. Some people can genuinely enjoy characters with gritty, hefty looking, and yes, brown armor. Personally, I don't care either way, as long as the armor fits the style of the game, which I believe this does.

As I said in my edit to my post above, I appreciate that you want your character to look "cool" in whatever capacity that means to you. The unfortunate reality, though, is that "cool" is not a typical concern when crafting weapons and armor: effectiveness is. If a game is trying to accurately model period equipment, it will reflect that (again, I note that Dragon Age does not represent these things perfectly, but at least makes a better attempt than many fantasy games).

I think she is more annoyed iver lack of options than anything. I'm sure the modding community will handle this. Someone told her to play Sims 3. There are more simlarities than some may like to admit. In RPGs tweaking our characters in these games are a huge part of the fun. FInding the perfect item, Eventually finding the look that best reflects our character, Juggling stats and talents with inventory. This is part of what stratches the 70 hour playtime, and makes the game so replayable. Sure she is talking about armor options, but it's a part of what I'm talking about.

wow. look. somebody gets it.  that if you are going to invest 70 hours in a game in which you create a character alot of what constitutes your character is their personal style and asthetics.  that not everybody wants to look the same.  my rogue and your rogue may not be conceptually the same.  we may not want to use the same weapons or wear the same looking armour.  that is why a game like NWN will always be superiour to a game like DA:O.  Variety and customability in your characther is a large part of what makes RPGing fun for many people.  the little tweaks that make my character different from any other "rogue" out there.  i wonder what makes some people crave diversity and personalization in a game and others not?

WOW!!! This forum has made my day. This topic is freakn amazing. I like the boobies but I like women who dress in moderation, not those hooker looking women these day who wonder why women get raped because they don't realize males get turned on by sight and some can't control themselves.... Breathe... Sorry for getting on my soap box. I personally don't care. All I mainly get to see is their back end so...

Were all those different varieties of armor there with the release of the original NWN?

I just find it confusing why you would compare one game thats been out for years, has had many dev and player made mods, additions, expansions, and moduals to one that hasnt even made a complete worldwide release.

Sorry that not everything in the game has met your exacting tastes. Theres a few options for you. Move on with your life, remove the game and never come back, or get the toolset and share you excellent taste and asthetic views with the rest of us.

Have a good day.

Maybe if you presented your argument like a sane, intelligent woman instead of a raving psycho she-devil, people would have discussed the topic with you.  Instead, you chose the confrontational and insulting route.  You reap what you sow.

Or is that 'sew?'

Whatever.  Go get me a beer.

If you don't like the clothing then play as the female city elf and you get to wear a wedding dress...athough i imagine lace isn't quite as protective as leather (which happens to be brown)...

Six months from now there will be plenty of community mods available for armour, weapons, etc. It would make good business sense for BioWare to produce a DLC of this, so I would not be surprised if they do. I waited 5+ years for this game and if this was the corner that had to be cut to get it out the door, that's fine.

right, so brown, as its the natural color of leather, should be changed?

you know its called LIGHT armor for a reason, have you ever wore any kind/type of armor?
its LIGHT, so you can move with less hinderance, and it still does its job.

The "Medium" and "heavy" and "massive" armors cover the body of male/female totally.

I think you have no clue about "light" and heavy armor at all, its meant to be light, and called light for a reason.

yes. in a world of magic and dragons i can not possibly think of any other way to make a light armour than leave half of it off?  get a clue .. serioulsy. go play NWN and see that there were 4 or 5 types of light armour each of which had 10 different styles and came in a variety of colours (and which you could dye to suit you).  look i know you are all in love with this game ... huzzah.  but face it in some ways it pales in comparision to things like NWN and this is just one of those ways ... you like looking at your female rogue in a boring brown skirt than fine that is you, you have no taste ... to each their own ... but i do have exacting tastes and this game comes up way short on its ability to create diverse personal character styles.

*goes to played game list*

NWN1 + xp packs
NWN2+ XP packs

MMMMK, I dont remember the abality to die your armor in NWN with out mods that is.

Ok, First this is not NWN 1, or NWN 2 or anything thing else, this is called Dragon Age, O.K? ;)

What exactly do you want from a light armor? its called light for a reason, its offers better protection that nothing, and remains light and does not hinder movment much.

So, now I have no taste? I see now.<_<

I am going to tell you right now, if I was looking for armor, I would NOT, want a body suit, buecase that not armor, its clothing, periord. end of story.

A skirt s the best way to use leather in most cases, because it allows unhindered movement, and still gives a small manner of protection, its not historcal, its just the way armor is, get over it.

Look back in history, leather was leather, some was fancyer than others but it all followed the same idea, the same with chain and plate.

I have a clue, it appears you do not, you want a dress up barbie game, where you can dress the doll as you wish and add what ever armor value to it as you see fit.

i simply cannot believe that anybody is defending this game on the diversity/variety/customization front. look. i get it you LUV the game. to you what your character is wearing is not that important as long as the stats are good ... i am not one of those type of people ... i want to create a "CHARACTER" ... down to the boots on her feet ... all of which builds to some greater aesthetic/personal/character sense ... you cannot do that in this game ... there is no arguing otherwise. i find it odd that you can tweak your nose to 10 different positions and widths and lengths but it never occurred to game developers that the armour your wearing is just as/if not more prominent feature of your character than your nose (or ears, or neck, or eyes) .... no attention to detail has been paid to the equipment. maybe it is too hard to come up with hundreds of variations on light armour .... other, older games seem to manage just fine but whatever .... i guess as long as i can have 32 different shades of eyes shadow who cares if i can match my armour to them or not ..

I support this message!

No skirts and no pants for girls! I want to see nothing but panties for those dark fantasy females!!!

Every book cover I see the hot female character wears chainmail bikini's ... this is totally breaking my immersion.

Please fix this ... or better yet give us nudity! Only for female characters of course!

I figured it was more like Roman armour. I guess I don't see a skirt I see armour. The low neckline is a bit stupid though. Perhaps you should try D&D Online. Women wear normal armour there.

nothing says i am a dimwitted douchebag than not realizing that the 'sexist' part of the comment was hyperbole ... the point is it is UGLY!!! nobody wants to wear a skirt (not to meantion leave a very vital upper chest part of their body exposed, what are zevan's collar bones more precious than mine?) .... the point is all of the personal equipment in the game sucks ... it is limited in variety and ugly. at Least NWN had tons of different equipment and looks to said equipment that you could really personalize your character ... you wanted to wear a skirt and cleavage showing breastplate ... fine .. you wanted to be encased head to toe in tight black leather (better to sneak up and kill you with) ... you could do that too ... in this game .... not so much ...

They have skirts for agility over durabtilite and defence, woman are also not built the same in the leg area as men that can take heavy armor, well thats normaly the case, but depends on if they take steroids :D

It's supposed to be a dark fantasy, not "dress-up time". Who the hell cares. If you want every rogue to be dressed up in different colored leathers for their daily tea party, then go mod it in yourself and quit your shopping-mall-teen whining.
