Correct me if I'm wrong...
It seems to me that aside from meeting talent requirements, dex becomes pretty useless compared to Cunning when using the Lethality talent (with at least 1 nondagger)

With lethality cunning gives you
  • To Hit (attack) (from lethality)
  • Damage (from lethality)
  • Armor Penetration (from cun)
  • And then you get the cunning bonuses to Lock picking, Persuasion, and Theft

The only unique thing you get from dex (if not using bow) is the plus to defense
Dex would not boost non-dagger damage, and both weapons would get less armor penetration, and then less bonuses to lock pick, persuasion, and theft

So now that I'm at the 36 dex mark, should it seems for my build Im better off stopping there entirely just pushing cunning (and maybe other stats)

Does this seem right??

Appreciate your inputs!

Cunning doesn't effect your attack. Only strength and dex do.

Cunning is better in a party based game, Dex in a solo.

Where are the real theorycrafters here? Timortis, you have no idea what you're talking about unless you can explain yourself "why" the person is wrong. I have been theorycrafting this stuff to death and have found no one else with "real" answers, just bashing and saying "You are wrong."

If you are going to post against someone, explain why Cunning is better than Dexterity and vice versa.

If you are using DW/Backstab as your primary damage then yes you are correct in your assertion that the max dex for the skills you want is all that is required. However, Lethality does not allow your cunning score to determine hit rate. This will only replace strength in damage bonus from what I read of the skill. This is moot since your dex should be high enough at 36 to hit effectively.

Lethality allows you to use Cunning instead of Strength to calculate damage - not for your attack rating.

As far as what is "better" - better is in the eye of the beholder. Let's be honest, for normal gameplay (not solo, etc) max dex, max cun or even a balance between the two give you characters that are perfectly capable of beating every challenge the game tosses at you. What you choose should be based on what you want out of the character.
