Sorry if this has been asked before, I've browsed through the forum and can't seem to find it, but how do you take a screenshot on the PC, please? Neither F11 nor Prt Scrn work and I'm not quite ready to just start pushing random buttons in game.

I was wondering this same thing. I looked through my old ME1 config files and was able to find a DefaultInput text file that had the key binding for screenshots (F11). But I could find no such file in my ME2 folders. Also, I'd prefer not to use a 3rd party tool because I don't want junk running in the background while playing ME2.

You can always use the PrtScrn key then paste it into an application. Or use a 3rdP application like Fraps, which really has zero overhead when it's sitting idle.

While I realize it's not ideal, it's all we got as there seems to be no binding in the Options and f10 through f12 do nothing.

It's probably something you have to manually insert in a config file.

This is pretty lame. I used to take dozens of screenshots whilst playing ME1.

Fraps is awesome.
Not only does it take screenshots, it records video too, AND monitors FPS.

Awesome...

Replace the "Coalesced.ini" found over "\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\BioGame\\\\Config\\\\PC\\\\Cooked" with the one provided.

Usage:
F8 to grab a shot.
Screenshot could be then found @ "Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\BIOGame\\\\Screenshots"

ME2_Screenshot Config.

Check in case in those 2 folder.

\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\ScreenShots

\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\BIOGame\\\\Screenshots

IKe0s, can you outline what you changed/added in the Coalesced.ini file?

Edit: Not your fault of course, but it seems that this time I can't take screenshots of dialogue or the galaxy map.

Wow, this is awesome. Works perfectly! Have a couple comments though.

Strange that when I try to change it to F11, since that's what I'm used to, the game crashes on startup. Oh well, F8 will do fine.

Also, any idea if there is a similar command string to put in that Coalesced file to map keys to Squad, Codex, and Journal, so we can have single keys to get to those like in ME1? Like J, U, etc.

Thanks again for your help.

Hey, I wanted to make a comment in this thread - I'm using the link IKe0s posted, and F8 works fine for screenshots, but like OmniGeno I can't take screenshots of dialogue, and that's basically what I wanted to take screen's of lol. Is there anyway around that?

I'm guessing our only other choice is to use the program Fraps. Though I am curious about why the command for the key binding is "shot" this time around instead of "takescreenshot" like it was in ME1. Wonder if the latter would work.
