I have that same problem from steam. Maybe one of the Bioware people could at least say they are working on it?

no dice on the steam one, EAAccessInstaller.exe doesn't exist in that version (so far as I or a windows search can tell)

I never get a error when i launch the game, it just loads for a few seconds then stops, whats funny is that in my steam list it shows that im playing ME2, when im not.

now i know why it was doing this, apparently in my task manager bar they show 'masseffect.exe' under processes. it also says in my steam info that i played ME2 for 2 hours, which i haven't lol.

Ten bucks says it's all DRM. Only way to mess this up so completely is to try and make it so paying customers can't play the game. Seriously... it's not like the pirates are having any issues...

So is it irony that tech designed to get being to stop pirating is encouraging it?

i have the same problem.

just keep getting mass Effect 2 has stopped working.

i have had a game before that i could not get working but found a no CD crack that fixed what the updates didn't. DRM is a better reason for piracy than cost ever was.

I have the same thing happening too. I've tried all the fixes people have suggested so far, my comp is above recommended specs... I don't know what to do now.

I'd be very forgiving if someone from Bioware would just say "Yes it's a problem, we are fixing it, it'll be out soon but only when it's ready."

Come on someone from bioware...

I'm having the same thing, running Vista 64 bit with SP1 and 2 installed. Launch the game, screen goes black, then a totally unhelpful message of 'Mass Effect 2 has stopped working.'

Hateful that message. Much preferred it when they actually told you what screwed up. I'd really like to know *why* it stopped working. I'm a tech, I could likely sort it out myself, but noooo, just told 'It's not working'.
