I can agree with the thread title at least.

Reading a review where the changes are explained and deciding not to buy it >>>>> ignoring every information about Mass Effect 2 that has been available for months, buying the game and posting the 200. thread about how you don't like a change

Complex my ass. What all the passive skills in ME1 were was redundant. What you really had was 3 point skills mashed together with miniscule yet necessary 0,2% improvements in the ability to shoot a guy in the face.

Note that nowhere in my post did I reference passive skills.

The only things I was *disappointed* in Mass2 were:
.1 Not being able to customize squad members
.2 Squad members having too few talents (seriously, the pc pause screen even gives them 5 spaces for talent powers and we're stuck with three at most?)
.3 Lack of weapon diversity (hopefully future DLC will change this)
.4 For a game that wasn't going to have NG+, the game post-end is seriously empty, no new conversations, missions or things to purchase.

Apart from that? Mass2 wipes the floor with Mass1, the choices feel more meaningful, the dialogue seems better structured, we have twice as many team members, the romances seem better fleshed out, not having to go around for hours up and down steep hills for nothing is a godsend... the list simply goes on and on.

Hmmm, not sure how they were suppose to make it tough. I do like some of the new changes (Mako gone for starters), but I did like the old talents system. Hopefully, after experimenting a little, ME3 will end somewhere between ME1 and 2, with a few new and cool tweaks.

Here is my opinion about how I feel about both Mass Effect games.

ME1 to me is an RPG with TPS elements, it was never a game solely on combat it was about exploration, immersion and a unique deep storytelling. Bioware did an amazing job with ME1, I have spent over 90 hours in ME1 just because the story was the best I've seen since watching the old Star Wars trilogy for the first time but of course there were problems with Mako & being over powerful which personally I personally didn't care about but Bioware clearly did which brings me to ME2.

ME2 is a TPS with RPG elements, totally removing a good junk of Immersion that I had with ME1, the huge exploration, and some deep storytelling and replacing it with a better shooter gameplay, less immersive, and a decent story. Bioware disappointed me with good portion of the game though I did enjoy some of the dialogue, characters, and the new normandy but the overall experience wasn't anything like I felt for ME1, don't get me wrong though ME2 is good TPS game but thats just it it is a Good TPS not a good RPG like ME1 is.

My final words is that I just think Bioware put too much focus on improving the combat in ME2 and didn't put enough focus on improving the core ingredients that ME1 had which was exploration, unique deep storytelling, and Immersion.
