I'm been trying to figure out how to increase my texture quality and keep it but every time I try its like the game auto degrades the textures for some reason or another ? If ME2 does have a feature that does that is there a way to totally disable it ? As I like enjoying a game at its best reguardless what the developers think is best, personally I prefer high quality and steady FPS then balanced/not so good quality an high FPS, and I know its not my gfx card its definately more then capable lol. If anyone has any idea how to increase texture quality that actually works that would be great as I have tried quite a few an they never seem to work, I even looked at the Coalesced.ini but its alot more complicated then I thought an I've heard of ppl messing with that an then the game crashes on start so I left it alone just for that reason lol. So far I haven't had any issues with ME2 other then poor textures upclose in conversations etc etc but its damn annoying just knowing that they are poor looking an a fix would be nice lols.

saying what your settings are at and what they get reset to would probably help, personally i run everything at max and it looks amazing (minus the occasional clipping in cutscenes, but its getting better!)

Can I see a screenshot of what you call 'poor textures upclose' I mean, I've seen some pixelated section of armor in some cutscenes where the camera is really close but generally speaking, during normal gameplay, they textures seem fine too me.

A screenshot would help people understand how you define poor textures.

Heres a screen shot I just took mainly armor/clothing and even weapons are effected an I've even noticed the same on shepards arms but I just noticed that not too long ago lol.

As you may see its all blocky etc an yes at a distance it looks better but I still notice it. :(

Also my settings are maxed out except my resolution which there really isn't a max setting for other then the max your monitor is capable of, with that said my res is 1024-768 with no AA and 16x AF, recently I read on another forum that there is some auto-scaling in both ME1 and ME2 just didn't find a way to disable it or if its even posible to, I rather hope it is lol.

hey
Have you tried messing with your Catalyst Control center? Some other guy was having trouble with low body texture quality. He seemed pleased after messing with the settings in CCC.

Mipmap setting or whatever its called

It could be a mipmap issue but to me it looks fine. Yes I see it's a little blocky but not unreasonably so.

My mip-maping is at max an so is everything else other then AA its set to application controlled as I'm not forcing AA in ME2.

up your resolution, im at 1920 x 1200, havent seen any pixelation really, not on shep armor at least.

edit: why would you run your games on such a low res? thats almost starcraft resolution -.-

That's a good point. Lower resolutions will likely draw from lower level mipmaps.

I run at 1680x1050 and will notice low res areas on some textures, from time to time, but I guess I'm just not that finicky.

Looks like a filtering issue? Try using 8x or 16x anisotropic. The screenshots make it look like the textures are point filtered.

Check your CCC,mipmap fully to Quality, and AA+AF if you can afford it

You've probably fiddled with options and forgot:P

Actually I'm forced to use 1024-768 due to my monitors size and my settings as I said before in CCC are all maxed out for best quality. The only thing that is not is AA and as I said before its on application controlled until I feel like forcing it.

Time for a monitor upgrade! Posted Image

My monitor is actually not the problem its the ingame textures them selfs. I don't know the resolution of there textures there using in ME2 but there low enough that its quite noticeable and its very annoying. They should of had an option for texture quality in the config utility, other then making an HQ mod for ME2 is there any other way to raise the resolution of the textures used in ME2 ?

I think its just a known issue for the PC version that the textures on clothing/armor are lacking in quality, despite maxing out resolution / image quality settings. I'm having the same issue but ultimately I think its a byproduct of ME2 being developed primarily for the 360.

360 version looks the same, if not worse. If the camera ever gets really close to armor/clothing, the (lack of) texture quality really shows. The faces have incredible texture maps, but as soon as it gets below the neck...

I've everyting maxed out on my computer, and it definitely better than that. So it shouldn't be the textures.

But could it depend on your hardware? I mean, there are hardly any options at all in the game, so maybe it auto adjusts or something? I've no idea how it works, but as the options are, it seems to be that it's best or worst graphics, and no in-betweens. Unless it does it automatically ...

My hardware shouldn't be having any issues with ME2 what so ever, I mean I play Crysis on High/Very High settings so its defffinately not my hardware lolz, as it is I get 60 fps throughout the game with minimal drops here an there but thats expected in anygame, but like Brockololly said being that the game was more then likely ported over they didn't put into detail or care about the textures for the PC version which is bad busness on BioWare's part.

Get a close look at your arms there also have that digi-camo look, it'll be on the back of the arms atleast thats where I tend to notice it the most, so with that said I'm pretty sure its a texture resolution problem >.<. Sorry for double post just wanted to get that out of the way xD.
