For those users who are running Windows 7, the temporary solution, until EA update their systems to use ECN, that only works if it is enabled at both ends of the connection. Open a command prompt with administrator rights and run this command:netsh interface tcp set global ecncapability = disabled

Hi, I'm having the same problem after re-installing my Steam version of the game. Basically I :

- Installed ME2.

- Installed a few DLCs,the main ones.

- Ran the game.

- Got the error message.

- Tried to connect to EA or Cerberus, and failed to do so (please check your computer is connected to the internet, bla bla bla...)

My firewall and antivirus are ok with the game, UAC deactivated. I'm running on Vista 32, which means the above fix is no use to me. Thanks for helping.

Did you try it? It works with Vista 64bit.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention I tried it already. The command prompt says 'Ok.' but I don't see any ingame improvement.

What AV package? Kapersky has been giving grief to Unreal 3 engined games. Dont know if they fixed it yet.

And I assume youre logged in with Admin rights or select run as admin?

The AV is ok, don't worry, I checked before posting here. And yes, I have admin rights.

Procedure with Steam version:

Install game via Steam

Run the game to allow Steam to finish installing and/or creating the files and registry entries it should have done during the installation process. May have to start a newgame and save/exit after being awoken, but unsure.

Install DLC.

Seems like a pain in the ass to do, but thats Steam for you.

You shouldn't have to start a new game. Steam does indeed wait to do some installation steps until the first time you tell the client to run it, but it then does it immediately before actually running the game. You can quit back out as soon as you get to the game's main menu.

As long as making a backup of the saves folder works, I'm ok...

I'm re-installing the game ATM, I keep you posted.

That's still not working :/ Cerberus network and EA site are both unavailable from the game, just like before. And that's before instaling any DLC ! It's obviously not working better afterwards.

Please consider any message thread six months old or older as too old to be dug up. If you cannot add a comment to a thread that is more recent than that, just say so when you complete a standard problem report here.

I don't mess with DLC. I never have trouble transferring my accounts on forums from one PC to another. I don't dig in the graveyard of dead threads. You should not do that, either.

digging old threads is the only way to find answers since there's no solution from them. when one buys smthn they expect to be able to play it.

Gorath Alpha: Le douche. "I don't dig in the graveyard of dead threads" as he's sitting ready to pounce on anyone who dare try to find answers to their problems. Let the admins lock it if it's a problem.

Wasting forum space with a "Me, Too" is just silly.  There is a FAQ collection,  Refer to it.
