Hi, first my specs:

1.      OS:      Windows 7 Ultimate 64
2.      CPU:    Intel QX6850
3.      RAM:   8GB RAM
4.
VIDEO:           Nvidia 8800GTX SLI
5.      AUDIO:           HDAudio (realtek)
6.      DirectX            9.0c August 2008
7. Game Version: ME2 Digital Deluxe Steam PC

After having played mass effect 2 up until the place where you get the thermal clip, the game froze. I went looking for new drivers and installed 196,21 Nvidia drivers. After having downloaded and installed some of the DLC (inferno, blood dragon armor, incisor, normandy Crash, ME2 Collectors) the game gave me this error message upon launching it:
"Failed to initialize the physics system. Please ensure you have an updated version of the PhysX System Software installed."
So I went to my steamapps folder and tried to reinstall the PhysX again because nvidia drivers had a newer version number but the setup cancelled itself telling me it couldnt install an older version over a newer one...

Besides this problem I noted during a cutscene with Joker that the audio simply went away for 5 seconds and then came back, although the crash of the game occured later I just wanted to post that issue too.

Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. Sorry for my English.

Under the add and remove program, you should be able to remove the Nvidia PhysX and then reinstall.

You might want to update your DX as well
