No doubt I will be branded a fanboy (or should I say fanoldman heh) but I do love this game. It really amazed me reading other players complaining about this and that... I even like the planet scanning (must be the only one on here lol). I'm taking it slow because I want to see as much of the game as possible.

Maybe it's because ME2 was designed by older devs and I'm 48... and still an avid gamer. The slow parts just make the combat much more thrilling because if you are in combat ALL the time it would get repetitive. Sitting down, drinking Brandy with the doc for example, just makes the immersion that much better in my mind.

Not to say that ME2 doesn't need a patch or two for the odd bug here and there but I'm still enjoying the feeling of immensity of the galaxy this time.

The only thing I would change is add a "zoom out" for the system view (like what someone else has posted... sorry that I forgot your name). Having to burn fuel just to move across the system to see what is on the other side isn't right... and you should be able to coast after a burn too (to save fuel). EDI should have navigation charts for pretty much every system anyway... the only exception being the unexplored ones...

Other than that... FREAKIN WELL DONE BIOWARE... Posted Image

I agree with everything you have said, the slow parts of the game are really what makes this my best game of all time...its what makes the game personal and all the actions that you take have real meaning and weight. Therefore, when you are doing your part to save the world (galaxy?) you feel proud of your accomplishment as you are doing it for people you have become accustomed to, and care about, not as a plot point while saving random strangers....

You know, why are you using fuel to move at all?

Bioware even makes the point that once you accelerate something in space, it keeps going and going. You should just fuel to get up to speed and break. (The constant rate of fuel use makes an easier game mechanic, though.)

But anyway, I completely agree with you. ME2 is completely awesome.

I think the internets are just a cesspool of negativity. No matter how great a game is, someone will find something to complain about.

I need to learn to stay away from gaming forums for at least a week after I purchase a new game, it's always such a downer. I'm having a blast enjoying my hobby, and then I look online and apparently the game that I think is awesomeness in two disks is terrible.

this game is huge, I only have half of the ppl recruited and I am 24 hrs in already, its ultra big and the side quests this time around are really awesome and not repetitive.

Yeah... when I looked at the forum and the gamers were knocking it for not being an RPG I was REALLY worried that Bioware had done an Infinity Ward and totally screwed up the sequel. Modern Warfare 2 was a real disappointment for me... so when I saw the reviews here I was really depressed... until I got the game that is (I'm in the UK so only got it yesterday).

So when I get in the game I was thinking "Why don't they think this is an RPG ffs?". For example there are the comments on this forum that say "Shepard wouldn't work for Cerberus after what they did to Admiral Kohuku". Well my paragon is VERY wary about Cerberus and even says "I am not working for Cerberus. I'm just using their resources!" or something like that when talking to Garrus on the ship.

It's clear that Shepard thinks that Cerberus is owed something for bringing her back from the dead (I'm using a FemShep from ME1 atm) but she doesn't class herself as a Cerberus employee... she's just using them to get the job done. It's the same for the team she is putting together... It's like a Sci Fi version of the Dirty Dozen (in fact there are 11 squad members plus you which even MAKES it a dozen).

Oh and everyone should read the 2nd Mass Effect book as it has a direct effect on the game. It shows you why the Quarians hate Cerberus.

If you take your time to read the Codex, read the books and talk to everyone, you can see the big picture taking shape. Cerberus uses some... dodgy... personnel, but they also use some really GOOD personnel. Like Shepard, they will use anything to get the job done.

This is the first RPG that I have come across that has completely AWESOME immersion... something I have been waiting for for a LONG time.

Forgot to mention... One thing Bioware does really well... and that is not make a sequel that is shorter than the previous game like a lot of games these days. I'm 12 hours into the game and I haven't even got half my crew together yet heh. Exploration is FUN!
