Shep's genetics are seriously "kicked up" and add tech to that - well, poison drink didn't kill her, can use the "Widow maker" w/o breaking any bones (which "shatters bones" of humans), and scars "heal" with positive focus. SO, trust me, there won't be rash, chafing or hallucinations!! Mordin was kidding....

I've only done Thane- but that's because he's my favorite character in ME2.
Garrus was my favorite character in ME1.
So....I use both for my team in ME2.
I say go for both and I hope both are squad mates in ME3!

I like both characters, but for some reason a romance with Garrus just seems wrong. Hes like my FemSheps best friend, her blood brother, I just couldn't see them doing the deed, so between the two she would probably have to go with Thane. Thane is a pretty spiffy guy, and his romance is well played out in my opinion, a bit emotional and fitting for a suicide mission.

Totally agree with you AmyBA - Garrus is my best friend, he's alway's got my back, and we've lived through a lot, so "doing it" with him creeps me out. Not to mention, don't wanna mess things up with romance crap - I enjoy our dialogues as "friends". Wouldn't mind doing the "before the big mission work out" taurian wrestling match though, in a hologym, for example. That'd be cool.......

Yeah. I felt like it was just a fling with a friend, and that just felt wrong. A guy like Garrus doesn't need a fling. He needs a friend... also, being a birdman kind of ruined things. Though I pickd him because I'm a straight guy playing female Shepard, and I wanted to pick the option that was less "man". Kelly seems like a spy, so i didn't trust her. And Liara's now a sociopath. So I'm stuck with my best buddy, the birdman... and now I regret it, and wished i stayed single.
Anyways, I thought I was going to pick Thane because he was closer to "home" then bird man, yet wasn't all man like Jacob. Besides, I thought it was a nice touch romancing someone that was dying. But in the end, I picked the birdman, because I trust him, and now he'll protect my Shepard.

I say choose Garrus. He's young, his romance is pretty funny, he's a Turian and he indirectly likes Shepard the same way but he never says it or at least he's never aware of it when he does. Thane is cool but for a romance I wouldn't say so. He's old, he has a son, there's a big chance that he can die, he was married and then there's the memore thing. Do you want Thane to remember about being with his wife every time he's with Shepard? Well that's my opinion anwyays, Garrus is my favorite character so I may be a little biased.
Don't choose Jacob though, his romance is terrible.

Both where well done, but I found Garrus to be better just because of the "sex" scene. It was just touching to see Garrus softer side.

Plus his voice is low and creepy. And obsessively religious. And that memory thing is creepy. He also believes his job is more importment then his family (aka killing people for Jelly Fish).

I knew as soon as Garrus was an option I would pick him for my character. After all we went through in the first game, and how he stood up for Shepard on Horizon... even though they've been "just friends" since ME1, he's always had that quiet admiration and respect for Shepard. After all, he said so himself there's no one in the galaxy he respects more. Thane expressed an interest in me, yes, he started flirting first. I only said "friend" was a good start to make sure I wouldn't get renegade points. Then, he called Shep his Siha after I picked the neutral option to focus on his son instead of sayin I want you. So, he's trying to pursue her, and while that's mildly tempting (what girl doesn't want a bad boy?), and despite Garrus' awkwardness, Garrus ultimately will win mah heart cause he tries so hard, and he's always got my back. I hope I get a chance to turn down Thane's advances, not that they're unappreciated, I just don't want a repeat of ME1, where I felt torn between L'iara and Kaidan and ultimately had to choose. I picked Kaidan the second time around, and now my Shepard got her heart broken cause he acted like an ass on Horizon. Should have chosen L'iara, but Garrus has always been a friend, and hopefully will make a good relationship and still be with my Shep in ME3.

Why don't you have two seperate games and romance Garrus in one game and Thane in the other. That's what I'm doing and I'm also gonna save the collector base in the other game too

GARRUS!!! He's the best, alot better than Thane. Garrus has been by your side from the very beginning, he even joined you even though you were working for the enemy......besides if you romanced Kaidan than the conflict between him and Garrus should be alot more interesting than with Thane

I've only done one female playthrough and I picked Garrus (The dialogue after you drop the hint to Garrus following the sparring story is hilariou) but I just started another female playthrough on ME1 and I think I'll pick Thane when I carry over to ME2.

I always play female. Dunno I'm not one to step outta my gender role. Just doesn't feel right. I tend to keep all my choices the same except I had L'iara on the first playthough of ME1, and carried over with Kaiden. Since Kaidan was such a jerk on Horizon, sorta feel lame for going through with it since Liara was so much happier to see me. Still, when ME3 comes around I think I'll keep Garrus. He's been ever so more loyal than Kaidan. I hope they carry over like they did in the first game. No BS like on Horizon though. That would suck. Maybe some kinda cool subplot for the romance if you carry it over in ME3. Like meeting Garrus' parents, or going to the Drell/Hanar world. Something like that, though hopefully more epic, lol. I totally dig the second playthrough thing, changing options and all, but I think I'll stick with Garrus all the way.
I was lmao at poor garrus with his dialogue. He's acts all nervous like he's being hit on for the first time by this chick he has a crush on and she suddenly realizes he exists. Cute.
