Does anyone know which connection port is ME2 using?
The readme suggests you open TCP ports 42100, 15200 - 15300, 9945 - 9994, 80
I still cant hook up with cerebrus, it shows me the DLC that it cant validate and gives me same old error message that it cant detect my connection. All firewalls off ports open and forwarded etc. My thinking was a missing undocumented port needed open. I dunno, nobody cares enough to help. Maybe when the have some paid DLC they might bother.

I'm using Vista with autoupdating. As I said - Steam refused to work recently and Borderlands installation application had the exact same error. I'll try to find out what might be the reason, but I guess it won't be easy...

I had problems earlier logging into GFWL and the fix was an IE8 one.... I never use that browser BUT it fixed my issue and also it seems to have worked for Cerberus too, as in I can connect now.
The fix being, Open your connections tab in IE8, click LAN settings at the bottom, remove the tick from the auto detect settings and then click ok etc... I dunno how that worked but I did nothing else on here besides that... meh, worth a try for you other folks with probs. ;x

Holy **** the Internet Explorer thing worked for me. I'm able to use firefox as my browser and never ever use Internet Explorer. I saw Daylisss post and said screw it so i brought up IE and it said i had no internet connection for some reason so i clicked "tools" and on the dropdown menu that comes up "Internet Connections", go to the "Connections" tab and on the bottom there's a button that says "LAN Settings". In the LAN Settings menu i checked "automatically detect settings" (it was unchecked). Now i can activate my game and connect to Cerberus. Hope it works for the rest of you! Give it a try atleast.
That's worked for me (under XP) I was stuck with this problem for a month!
Thank you

I realize now after re-reading Daylisss post that for him/her it worked when he/she UN-checked the auto detect. For me it worked the opposite way for some reason.
For me too!
However, I also reinstalled Steam and redownloaded Mass Effect 2, but for completely other reasons.

I've past hours trying everything and now it works.
Thanks a lot to Dayliss (and all the others how tried with less luck) for finally coming with a solution.

Double that Holy ****. Worked for me to, when UNchecking the LAN settings auto-detect. This is why i'll put my money on forums over tech support any day. Thanks guys, i was on the verge of some serious monitor smashing.
