I am so confused, I have NO idea what to expect from ME3, but I hope we don't have to choose our team or anything. I have no idea which team I would pick. I love both teams and feel attached to both. ME1 and ME2 did a great job of getting you emotionally involved with your team and I just don't know what I'd do if they made me pick lol!
I love my OLD team but I love the NEW one too! Aaaaaaa!

I expect we get a new team in ME3 and maybe one or two characters from ME1 or ME2 if there are enough fan-threads.

The only team members i would want would be Legion, Mordin, and maybe grunt.
Tali and Liara too since they were much better in ME2 than they were in ME1, made them loads more interesting.

TBH I'll be pissed if they switch our teams again. Why not include all previous members lol! Probably not feasible. Some team members I can understand not being squad members, like Wrex, he could still be with his clan etc.

Well seeing as how literally everyone from the second squad can be killed in the final mission of ME2, i wouldnt be surprised if they dont include any of them, i also wouldnt be surprised if they just let cerberus clone them like they did in this game since that seems to be their writer's genius answer to everything nowadays.

I guess I'm expecting pretty much the opposite of everyone in this thread. Bioware has never been shy about dumping old team members and introducing new ones, but I expect to see a lot of returning faces in the culmination of this series, what with your decisions from ME1 carrying all the way through to the end, and with the entire second game basically serving as an elaborate set-up for the finale. I'm sure Bioware will give us a few new squadmates in case your history has been filled with the deaths of previos sqaudmates, but I'd expect to see the focus on bringing the events and characters of ME1 and ME2 to the forefront in unison.

Jacob is BORING. Grunt is not as good as Wrex, but I think Wrex is well entrenched and won't ever join you again. Zeadd is useless and though he has some okay stories, he bores quickly. I like Samara more than Liara and Miranda more than Ashley.
Still, if I could get Liara back with all her ME 1 powers...

Sidekicks can die in ME2 but it doesn't mean they will be excluded. It all depends on the 'default Shepard' for new ME3 players. As mostly we will import characters where the lead squaddies survived (and probably we all have a playthrough when everyone made it).
So let's say the Default ME3 Shepard have Grunt, Samara, Thane dead, they won't be included. But as for Miranda and Jacob, they are possible candidates. (I even found hard to kill them when I did some testing with the suicide mission).
Well, I expect at least one sidekick to return as a permanent squaddie in ME3. And others (like Jack, Thane, Mordin) as maybe a temporary mission member? I certainly hope they won't be just written out after making all these efforts to keep them alive. (I wouldn't mind running around with Jack and Mordin specifically, as permanent squad members, but chances are, they'll only show up. That's sad)
As for ME1 squadmates, there's a good chance that either Ashley or Kaidan and Liara will return. Well, maybe even Garrus, he was one of the 'hard to kill' members too. And the latter is one of the oldest faces of the trilogy, we know him since the very first presentation.
On top of these, I expect one face from the first game to show up as a squadmate. Namely, Captain/Admiral/Whatever Anderson. He is still spec ops, he doesn't like his way of life as a politician and he realizes the greater threat. All sings points to a squadmate candidate. But that's pure speculation, there is a good chance I'm wrong.
Whatever, in any case, at least 4 new characters will be introduced, so we have eight more spots to fill (expecting a Dirty Dozen squad)

It would be really lame if Bioware didn't bring back the ME2 team for those who were able to save all of them. Besides, I disowned Alenko after the **** he pulled and I don't want him anywhere near my crew. I'd like to have the God-Emperor of Krogankind back though. And maybe Liara.

Hm, interesting, a lot of people hates the Ash/Kaidan now because they were angry and disappointed that we work with (or for, in case of some characters) Cerberus.
Do you remember how the forums looked like when we were told that we will be working with Cerberus? Ash/Kaidan's reaction was pretty calm considering a bunch of people who went like " *random sweating* Bioware I don't *random sweating* work with *random sweating* Cerberus". And they were real people, he-hee.
I don't wanna defend them, they didn't even give us a real chance to explain the situation, but their reaction was understandable. They even apologized over their attitude later.
Still, I'm sticking with Jack, that Paragon romance development was pretty sweet if you saw between the lines.

Love the ME2 characters. For the most part found them a lot more interesting than the ME1 squad.
I expect we'll have a new squad for the third game. It's too hard to implement all the variables of who lived and died (everyone except Liara is potentially dead). That said, I do think we'll have our surviving squaddies return in some form as temporary characters.
That could certainly be implemented. Here's what I imagine: ME3 has Shepard commanding the final battle against the Reapers, He has his resources and contacts throughout the galaxy working on different missions, and has sent his surviving crew from ME2 out on different assignments (which evolve into the main story missions). As he goes on these, he gets the aid of those who survived (of course if they didn't they will not appear). Throw in a few interludes/end game scenarios with the LIs and I think everything will be good.
