Equality isn't 'nothing.'
You want equality? What for, you want to downgrade? At least the female options are better done than the male choices. Jacob has his abs of steel and typical determined personality, Thane has a very touching moment of self-doubt and fear that Shepard has to mitigate and Garrus might not get a kiss (how exactly do you kiss someone without
freaking lips, BTW?) but the way how the badass space cowboy gets so awkward while trying to compliment Shepard is just adorable and again, the scene is quite touching.
On the other hand, you have the male options.
- With Miranda, you get a bra and a lot of unfulfilling dry humping. No talk, no care for the moment, just get right to the deed, which would be fine if the damned thing wasn't so laughable with two adults rubbing each other in extasy while fully clothed
. - Then you have Jack, which has not just one, but TWO unfulfilling
sessions of clothed dry humping. Again, no touching moments, no
character development, just Jack going wild over Shepard leaning over
her. - Kelly Chambers is easy to abridge: she says
that she wants some private time with Shepard, you both walk in the
direction of the elevator, fade to black and then you're back in the
Control Room. The only good thing in the middle of it all is that at
least you've got someone to feed your fishes for you [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png[/smilie]. - Morinth kills you. Do I even need to comment on that?
- And finally, Tali, the only female that
has a salvageable love scene. She's awkward, she's unsure, she's afraid of what might happen,
but she cares about Shepard and he has to make her feel accepted when
he finally removes her mask and they kiss.
That was all we needed, a good, fulfilling moment that seals your relationship with a love interesst. You didn't need to waste your time trying to give us a sex scene when just some dialog and a warm embrace would be enough. Now I'm not saying that sex has no place here, because it does, but you have to make it count for something. If you want to give us a sex scene then
give us a sex scene, you don't need to be explicit or graphic to make it work, as we could see in ME1. And if you can't, that's fine, just give us a nice, touching moment that will make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
But just stop giving us adults rubbing each other with their clothes on. Seriously, it's embarassing.
