And again...

I uninstalled the current ATI Driver 10.1 and switched back to 9.12, but still the same. But this time for some seconds I went back to the desktop and I could read the Windows 7 Message that is was necessary to restart my Graphic Driver, this means something in this game kills it. I have used the default settings for the game, so nothing special.

This game has a F****** BUG! What else should we do still some support will show up in this thread??

PS: I also tried Window Mode, the same. The game crashed after some minutes.

It's odd how no bioware/EA employee has responded in any way to this problem, considering they help with stuff like "How do I turn on my sound" and other rather strange help request. This issue crashes the bloody game and computer, priorities should kind of be set here I think

Thank you again. I also sent an E-Mail to the support with all my infos. I also tried to use the Live Chat but it was canceled. Beginning of next week I will try to call the technical support in germany if the problem is still not solved. During the weekend you can only call the support concerning gameplay but not concerning technical help

I don't know if this has been suggested already, but try running the game in windowed mode. I haven't bought ME2 yet myself, but I had this exact problem with ME1. Although it would still crash in windowed mode, the crashes were once every one or two hours instead of every 5-10 minutes.

ME2 crashed on me last night after playing with no issue for the first hour. I had just got aboard the Normandy and clicked save. As soon as I did that the sound started looping, screen went blank and my graphics card fan kicked up to 100%. I thought that my graphics card could have been overheating so I turned up the fan speed.

Anyway, started it up tonight and talked to some people in the Normandy and clicked save. It did the same thing. I am assuming it is related to the issues in this thread.

I have a 2GB 4870x2 if that helps....

I just tried disabling AA and setting cinematic lights to default and it got worse. Now it is freezing once I start walking around. I turned it off and then back on to try again. This time I started walking around and the thing rebooted itself.... WTF is going on?! Everything was fine before I got to the Normandy...

What are you guys doing when it crashes?

What is in the event viewer logs?

Like when I play and it crashes, every flippin time it is right after I press an action button. For example I press shift to tactical pause and it locks up and dumps out. Or when I went to aim, lock up and dump out.  Or when I pressed space for a door, locked up and dumped out.

This is what I get out of the event viewer:

Faulting application masseffect2.exe, version 1.0.1593.2, faulting module masseffect2.exe, version 1.0.1593.2, fault address 0x005dc1b5.

Has any of you experienced the same crash in other games (after the crash started happening in ME2)?

Try to run the game in Windowed mode, what driver crashes exactly?

Guys - go to Control Panel\\Performance Information and Tools in Windows, and click the "Update my Score" button. This will run some tests on your hardware.

Does this crash anything? (The screen should flicker for a few then restore itself with an error message at the bottom saying a driver crashed and recovered.)

5,9 because of the Harddrive Data Transfer. All other values around 7,5 and 7,6. So this could not really be the reason for the crashes. This game is S***, I have no other words to find for it. I could play Dragon Age Origins on maximum details with only one crash in over 70 hours of gameplay and here nothing works...

Don't really care about the score. I care if the Display Driver crashes during one of the DirectX tests. ;)
It does for me... =/

OK, but I had no problems during the tests.

What about those who are using XP? i don't see this Performance Information and Tools. I did not crash in anyother game than ME2.

I don't think XP has such tests... Or wait - try Run > "DxDiag". There should be a DirectX test available there.

I will edit this post if i post it.

Guys i had a similar problem as all of you. I played ME2 for 30 minutes and than WHAM! crash to desktop ;/ I thought it was only a random bug or smth, but no, it has repeated itself after every 20- 40 minutes of gameplay everytime i played. The solution is as follows ( at least it helped me get rid of crashes )

I am using AGP card so i cannot tell if it will be of any help to PCI-E users still i hope it helps you.

- first of all, i cleaned all my ATI drivers with driver cleaner in safe mode, following the whole procedure covered in readme.txt
- secondly i have installed the legacy drivers from microsoft for my card ( Radeon X1950 Pro is not supported in new drivers anymore )
- third and last i have DISABLED AGP SIDEBANDING in BIOS.

Those three steps solved everything for me. Game runs smooth, no crashes and i can play 10 hrs or so without any crash.

Ps. I am using an AMD Athlon X2, so i have installed the amd dual core optimizer and newest amd cpu drivers.

yes i have in ME1 i have no idea why its me1 and 2 but those are the only games ive ever had a crash in that actually made my PC power completely down on its own. im thinking somthing in these games is causing my PC to over heat or maybe drawing too much power and my powersupply cant handle it.

although that dosent explain why running windowed fixes the problem
