ITS A GAME, ONLY A GAME, STOP TALKING ABOUT DISEASES.

A game set in a very rich, engrossing universe. You'd be pissed at us if we were calling Star Wars "It's just a movie, it's just a movie, stop talking about the Force!"

The difference though is that apparently the Protheans made terrible material for Reaper construction while humans are like a friggin grab-bag of LEGO parts.

...man now I wanna bust out legos and make a Reaper.

Yeah, it's pretty much as I predicted before the game came out. What's so special about humans is that something about our genetic diversity makes us ideal for the process of turning us into husks and more Reapers.

So yeah, we're more "special" than every other contemporary species. But special in a very bad way.

Edit: now that I think of it...remember Saren insisting that some could survive the Reaper invasion?

Huh. How about that.

To follow up on your message edit, yeah. You're right. Saren was most likely an archetype for the future version of the Collectors had he been successful. Remember, there were no colony abductions occurring during Mass Effect 1, and the Collectors were still getting samples from various "specimen brokers", including the Shadow Broker.

If Saren had been successful, the Turians would have been proper screwed, and met the same fate as the Collectors and the Protheans.

LOL "cross-species fluid contact"

You do know that was a joke. That entire convo is a rip on the haters in the topic about wanting to romance Tali in ME1 in the older Bioware forums.  Actually pay attention to your conversations and Codex, and you'll relise that. Nothing in the convo makes much sence, including the Turian hitting on the Quarian, considering that Turran germs and such are the only thing truelly fatale to a quarian.  Everything else only cuases mild allergic reactions, including contact with other quarians.  Tali took no more of a risk with Shepard then she would with another quarian, possibly only slightly more because he does have contact with Turrans, and could be carring something.  Romancing Tali, before the jump on the Omga4 relay, talk with Mord, he'll send you info, and talk about the Human-quarian mating info.

Edited to add, I'm sure the Devs put that Convo in to laugh at those that use in future, and the inveitable "I love Tali" threads.

I was actually being serious, not hating on Tali.

Sexually transmitted diseases kill people here, on earth, without prior immuno-problems. Antibiotics don't do anything to viruses. And Mr.Rambo Quarian who survived only does so because you gave him back to the Quarians - experts on their own physiology and problems that may have access to medicine our Normandy doc doesn't.

You put a biologically unsafe instrument inside a fragile alien speicies and caused friction and then expelled a possibly toxic cocktail inside of her body - and then she has to run around and fight for her life so she's not exactly running to the doc to get an uber-detailed cleaning after the fact.

Sex causes complications, and unfortunately for Tali death replaces pregnancy.

well if you new something about quarians and humans and if you read the books, you would know that quarians and humans cant be affected by eachothers diseases or sexually tranmitted diseases, **** tali even said that in me2, she said they would just get a fever or a cold, wow talk about uniformed, where not ****ing humans that have weak immune systems while shepard has aids were loving quarians that wont get human diseases, listen more carefully.Image IPB

Only Bioware would add a romance that had no real place in the plot initially but was demanded by a massive fan response. I only hope they follow through in ME 3 for an ultimate conclusion. I had fun bringing Tali in the final battle as my companion and watching as we laid waste together to the Collector threat.

Well, I found that in the first game, they developed their relationship as friends, but in the second that evolved into a romantic relationship.

I wouldn't really say it had no place in the plot.

Yeah, because Shepard has an std right? Don't recall reading that in the codex.

This debate has gotten out of hand. I think we can all agree that Tali was taking as many precautions as possible. She wasn't worried about catching a human disease or any other species disease, but rather the allergic reaction that happens when she comes in contact with foreign bacteria/germs.

I think we can also agree that, by doing her romance, Tali and Shepard take every possible precaution for the sake of her health. Not only that, Tali even says that although she has a slight fever and sinus congestion, it was worth it.

This topic is about Tali, not about whether or not Quarians can catch swine flu or whatever else.

You're forgetting that she went to Mordin for help.  Mordin.  Not some random doctor.  A *brilliant* doctor that managed to cure a synthesized plague on Omega.  He's not trying to cure anything, he tells you what precautions to take after she came to him for help.  Hell, he even talked about positions comfortable for a quarian/human couple.  I think it's fairly obvious that between Tali's homework and Mordin's assistance that Tali will be just fine.  Yeah, she might get a fever or infection of some kind, but between Mordin and Chakwas, she'll be fine.

Anyway, back on topic.....

Who else felt that Tali's romance and character was the deepest option for ME2? Personally, I think ME2 Tali and ME1 Liara were the deepest relationships so far. Ashley/Kaiden seemed very superficial. I can't comment on ME2 Garrus or Thane because I have not done those yet.
