So I'm playing an infiltrator and I read somewhere about a sniper rifle with an ammo capacity of 60 or something. Where can I find this? Also, is there any way to increase the magazine size of weapons, like an upgrade or something?

The only real problem I have with the game so far is the ammo system, which I feel is a HUGE letdown. It's not that an ammo system couldn't have been made well, I just think the ammo capacity for pretty much every weapon I've used so far is ridiculously low.  So, any way to increase it?

I think you find the Viper rifle during Thane's recruitment mission. And yes, there are +ammo upgrades you can purchase for at least shotguns and smgs. Unsure about other weapon types. There is also a +10% ammo armband you can purchase.

Thanks for the quick answer. I really don't understand why ammo was added, but maybe that's just me.

it makes for better balance for the faster firefights. It doesn't make sense in a lot of ways, but i'd rather overheat my weapon (aka running out of ammo) and swap out heat sinks any day of the week than wait for my weapon to cool off, or limit my firing speed.

True, you can fire much faster in this one than ME1, but with the double/triple/quadruple amounts of enemies in this one, I'd like to be able to fire my weapon for as long as the combat lasts without having to change from sniper rifle to pistol to smg to heavy weapon to melee by the end of the fight. Faster firing is useful, but I'd take the ability to fire at all before that.

Just keep in mind, that the Viper sniper rifle has notably lower damage. Which is good, they are at least different weapons, not just upgrades, but personally, I preferred to keep the Mantis.

What doesn't make any sense is why they're using disposable heatsinks. Why not just swap between four or five reusable heatsinks?
