Hey people,

i installed and downloaded mass effect 2 digital version 3 days ago and installed it.
today i started the game after the launch date release check it gives me the error:
library load fail: d3dx10_39.dll error and when i click okay it tells me there was an error and i should
reinstall the game, i did reinstall it but i got the same error, i downloaded a d3dx10_39.dll and placed it 
in the system32 folder but stil the error, do i have to reinstall it again after i downloaded the dll? i want to know first cus i only have 3 installs left.

oh btw i downloaded it from the ea shop if that makes any difference not steam
also im using a laptop
not sure if it matters btw but here are my specs

edit: also i have used mass effect 1 with no problem and i can only find updates for direct x 9 and lower on the microsoft page.

The game requires Dx9 and comes with a copy of it on the disk. Dx10 doesn't have everything that is needed.  In this case, since the error message refers to a Dx10 file, the assumption is that Vista is the OS, and Direct3D has some corrupt files, so FIRST reinstall Dx10, then test the game.  The Dx10 reinstall shouldn't have disturbed the Dx9 that is installed with the game, but if it has, you have Dx9 right on the game disk.

yes i know because its also made for xbox 360 wich doesn't use direct x 10 however i stil get this error d3dx10_39.dll library load fail : < it wont let me start the game
edit: im just worried im going to waste all my installs trying to fix this problem

If it makes you feel any better there aren't any install limits on this one... they changed the **** they gave us the last time ( I always used cracks never registered it yet :/).

As for you problem ... the only thing I can suggest is to reinstall dx9 from the disc then reinstall dx10.. srry dude :/

i tried reinstalling direct x 9 and strangely the directx 10 file problem is resolved so its working now, thanks for the help everyone

it wont let me install Dx9 on Win 7.....and im having the same problem. even downloaded the missing dll file and put it in the system folder in windows.

Microsoft has the latest version of DX9c available for all (xp.vista,7) versions of Windows. In the later versions make sure it installs as administrator and make sure you are one too.
