ME2: Events from imported save differ from my ME1 choices

After playing through the game I've noticed two places where events/choices imported differ from what happened to my character in ME1. I know I haven't simply forgotten what I did in ME1 as I completed the playthrough last week. Both are relatively minor, but I still found it annoying.

Conrad Verner (Illium): Conrad's dialogue mentions me shoving my gun in his face (Renegade option in ME1 the third time you meet him) However in my ME1 playthrough I choose the paragon path, convincing him to go home to his family.

Sirta Foundation: This one only affects a news story, but you never know if it might mean something in ME3. In ME1 there was a mission where biotics attack a research base and drug the scientists using them as shields. In my playthrough I eliminated all of the biotics but saved all of the scientists. Hackett congradulated me on saving everyone and my journal said something to this effect. However, in one of the ME2 news reports you hear that it was a massacre and that Sirta may close down as a result.

I don't know if these issues are the results of how the variables were set in ME1 or if they are bugs in the import system but it would be nice if my actual choices were reflected.

Anyone else notice this?

The bug with Sirta was actually in ME1 also - when you rode in the elevator you got the message about a massacre even if (like me also) you saved all scientists.

So its possible that this is in fact a ME1 bug with the data not being properly saved there, which would of course mess it up in ME2.

I have encountered both bugs, as well. It's not that huge a deal -still, would be nice if it got fixed in a future patch.

Came here through a link on the storyline forum about Conrad.

Not only did I NOT draw a gun on Conrad, I've NEVER pulled a gun on him in any ME1 game I ever played. Definite bug here.

I keep seeing different threads about this pop up and then sink into obscurity with all of the other posts going on with the forums abuzz as they are. If I knew where the search function was I'd connect them all in attempt to show that this particular problem is affecting a decent number of people.

Actually, has anyone who treated Conrad nicely in ME1 and/or saved all the scientists not had an incorrect reaction in ME2? I agree with Erenia in that I think it may be the saves themselves that need tweaking.

+1 for Conrad thinking I pulled a gun on him even though I never got a single renegade point in my imported ME1 save.

I too have this problem with Conrad Verner. Also similar problem with Sha'ira. In ME 1 did her quest (talk with Septimus, then inform Xeltan, the elcor diplomat, that Septimus was responsible for revealing his secrets), but in ME2 i heard in galactic news that this did not happen and Sha'ira leave Citadel

Add another one for Conrad, the Sirta Foundation and The Consort leaving.

Granted the latter two don't talk specifics about your mission, but since they're in the game it would seem they should be about the result of your actions.

bioware just needs to put out a save game editor so we don't have to go back and beat ME1 to have a tailor-made ME2 experience

Two more bugs in relation to this:-

Gianna Parasini: in my ME1 renegade game, she was killed in a firefighter with Anoleis on Noveria. I just ran into her on Illium, alive and well.

Corporal Toombs: he shot himself after I did the renegade option for his quest, and I heard about him on the news and got a message from him threatening me for working with Cerberus.

Conrad Verner: also happened to me.

The consort problem happens for me on the XBox 360 version, and the Sirta one. However, I don't know about Conrad Verner, since I DID put a gun in his irritating face on Mass Effect. Wish I could have done it again in ME2 too, though shooting him in the foot was still satisfying.

What about the mob boss lady you meet on the citadel? I killed her in ME1, but in ME2 there she stands full of life after she sold her syndicate to Aria. Anybody for that one? That is the biggest flub I noticed. Turns little to our knowleged cerberus resurected her too for some unknown reason LOL. OOPS! I got the others too, but that is the worst one. I even remember it saying in ME1 when u examine her body, that "she lies on the ground as she tries to say something only blood comes from her mouth, and then the life drains from her body." or something like that, but there she is alive and "well(?)" in ME2.

I hope a search function is being worked on for this forum. The lack of it is by far the most irritating thing here.

We're at six different instances now?

Conrad Verner
Sha'ira
Sirta Foundation
Helena Blake
Gianna Parasini
Corporal Toombs

I think I remember people mentioning Helena Blake and Toombs issues in other threads too. Like another poster said, it is somewhat surprising to me that these continuity problems are around in the release version of the game. Then again, carrying decisions over into sequels used to just involve being asked a bunch of questions.
"That planet was destroyed, right?"
1. No, that's crazy talk, that planet is still around.
2. Yep, that planet is just space dust now.
3. What planet?

If what we have now would work all the time, it would be much better. Hopefully it's just something simple like switching a few trues/falses around in the saves.

Some of that more sounds like it was an oversight to me. They set it up to make some choices for you if you didn't play the game and forget to set up variables for some of the situations for if you did. Really would like to see this fixed.

Adding my post to the list. Hoping to see some fixes added in a patch. Not important, sure, but somewhat annoying.

Conrade: Thought I pulled a gun on him.

Sirta Massacre: I saved everyone.

Sha'ira: Helped her with Septimus and the Elcor.

The Sirta Massacre is actually a ME bug which was probably ported over in the save seeing as how it was never fixed.

Same problem with Conrad, Sirta, and Helena.

Sha'ira I heard the news story about her leaving amidst allegations, but I also got an email from her acknowledging her "gift of words" for completing her mission in ME1

I also had weirdness with Fist. In my ME1 game, I took Wrex with me to fight Fist. I took the paragon route of letting him live.. but Wrex kills him anyway to complete his contract. In ME2, he's there on Omega chatting up a couple of Asari in the VIP area.

Yeah I've had a lot of these but the biggest one was that in ME1 I romanced Ash but in ME2 it acts as though I romanced Liara

One more entry in the list:

At the end of Mass Effect 1, in my Paragon run, I stated no opinion regarding who should represent humanity in the Council, saying that that was not Sheppard's choice to make. However, when doing the recap in Mass Effect 2, I was only given two possible answers: either Anderson or the ambassador (plus "This stops here").
