Oh man. I might need to uninstall some stuff to fit it on my laptop's wimpy 60GB hard drive.
...nah I'm just kidding, my gaming rig in all its goodness should be back on its feet by the time Origins is out.

EDIT: I remember when the best form of copy-protection (as used by the original Diablo) was to make the game so freaking huge that it would be nigh-infeasible to download it off a BBS.

I only have 32GB left on the HDD ... guess I'll have to delete a few other programs ... :(

And ... LOTRO Rocks, by the way ... just saying :)

20GB is quite a deal, and the toolset was some additional hundrads of megs? +mods +resources +saves

But in 2011 they'll say a 25GB game is small. The amount needed for graphics is rapidly exponential. Sound compression is very advanced and it's quality isn't racing forward but the sheer amount of dialogue in the game can compensate that I believe.

I laughed a few months back when I reinstalled fallout 2 and installed the HUMONGOUS INSTALLATION!!! at around 300megs. Smaller than the character creator...

Ah, I'm so excited. It's going to take FOREVER to download from Direct2Drive, though, even with my fast internet. :C

I'm just happy that my notebook has 80gb free, so I'm ok for now.

but seeing these people with 1,5tb HD makes mine feel small and outdated (and I got it in january) with its 250gb...

Laptop HDD have much smaller capacity than desktop ones. 250 GB in a 2.5 HDD isn't bad.

More to the point HDD are so cheap its astounding. You can get a decent 1TB drive (7200RPM 32MB cache) for less than the price of DA

I'm not complaining, but I guess all that voice work really makes for a huge game... or the game truly is an EPIC in scope Image IPB

If it was because of the voice work I don't see how it would fit on the 360 disc. It's not supposed to be missing any voice work.

I'm building a new rig (not specifically for DA:O, but I'm definitely pushing to have it done before the game is unleashed) and I'm going to have plenty of space for it (multiple hard drives with capacities of up to 1.5 TB each). Yeah, it's a big game,  but my NWN1 installation takes up about 16 GBs, so DA:O isn't that much bigger I guess.

20gb is not much compared to Desktop Hard Drives anymore, its pretty easy to find huge HD's with great performance for around 50-60 dollars.

20gb isn't all that big anymore. I only hope it's gonna take me a really long time to get through it, because mass effect 2 ain't all that close yet.

Probably movies, shows, or anime. I have a friend that just bought a 4TB external drive because his 1.5TB and various 1TBs are full.

My soul is still breaking in pieces knowing that I'll have to download this through steam. I wonder if I ended up saving money by not buying at gamestop and buying the deluxe edition on steam or will my electricity costs for downloading DA for 4 days actually make me lose money. But once the download is done I'll be a happy panda. All the goodies in one magical box. Also this is my first steam game and first digitally bought videogame. I've always been the type to take my savings to gamestop fully composed of coins. But now times have changed and I have a credit card.

The humongous install on F2 is almost 700 megs, and with proper mods you can reach over 900.

To the OP: why do you compare the size of a stand-alone game with a MMO where most of the code/content is not hold on the client side? That makes no sense to me, sorry.

Has anyone said whether or not the console versions are going to be on a single disk? Even with compression 20GB of data for the Xbox seems steep for a single disk release.

I'm pretty sure I read the English version will be on a single disc. Only some localized versions will be on 2 discs.

I remember when the games were in mb (omg, this game is huge, it's 20mb!!!!)

Face it, we're old.

My gaming laptop's got 500 GB, about 60% of that is free.
I have a 1 TB external, but that's reserved for downloaded Japanese media.
My old 320 GB and 640 GB externals have some free space since moving stuff from them to the 1 TB one, so when push comes to shove, I could move other games to those to make space for DA:O additions.
