Got done defending Horizon from Collectors. Ashley Williams shows up (what kind of soldier only comes out after the fighting is done??).

Is there any way to calm her down and get her to join your crew??? First time I tried, I used mostly paragon responses but it was like a train wreck. 

I went back to a previous save file and fought back to same point. Now on hold hoping there's a way to pull it off and have her join up. 

(no, she wasn't my LI for this particular ME1 save file)

No she won't join you. Even with paragon responses it ends kind of rocky, which is really interesting. Kudos to the writers.

She will chill out, and apologize later in mail.



She is reserved for ME3 (most likely in squadmate role) so she can't be taken to the mission this time around.

I don't know if you get the apology email if she wasn't your love interest though.

To be fair, she was probably still recovering from the Collector attack, and wasn't able to help you fight.

I didn't get an apology e-mail from Kaidan as male Shepard, so I'm guessing she doesn't send one if she's not your LI. I made no apologies to Kaidan though in our conversation.
