When I submit a forum reply (like what I am writing here) that contains the backslash character ("\\") it gets duplicated. If the message is edited (but the superfluous \\ not deleted) they get duplicated again. What is the cause for this?

A lame message interface.
The message boards use backslashes as meta character. Even using the CODE BB code doesn't work... just lame. I was forced to include a note for Unix-type code expressions, which use lots of backslashes, to insert a backslash whereever I inserted a substitute character. I used a question mark "?", but any non-meta character will suffice. That's the only work-around I could come up with.
