At level 7 and 14 you are able to put a point into the Assassin class.

I think he means where do you 'unlock' the assasin class. Im pretty sure you have to get Zevran, then boost his opinion of you. Im not sure (im playing a warrior) but I can ask him to train me as an assasin in the dialouge choises.

Yep, you learn it from Zevran. You can find all those things in the Dragon Age wiki.
