I know a lot of people are having a hard time with the loose ends on their team getting trimmed off in the final mission, so I thought I would list how I got the achievement on my first playthrough.

Veteran difficulty

In order

Get all teammates and loyaly before going to acquire the IFF and Legion, then get Legion's Loyalty
Purchase The upgraded Kinetic Barriers, Hull Strength, and Weapons for the ship as well as any weapon and armor upgrades for your team.

Choose Tali for your Tech Specalist
Choose Jacob for your Fire Team Leader
Bring Miranda and Mordin in your Squad

Choose Jacob to Escort Chokwas and Kelly

Choose Jack for your Biotic Specialist
Choose Garrus as your Fire Team Leader
Bring Miranda and Mordin in your Squad

Bring Miranda and Mordin to face the Terminator

No men(or women) left behind!

Insanity, Soldier class

I saved everyone (even my crew - Kelly, gabby etc)
- all member loyal, except for Legion (I wanted to go through the relay asap)
- Tali for vents
- Garrus squad leader both times
- Miranda and Thane with me throughout the mission
- Samara for the shield

Make sure that you're loyal with EVERY teammate before you attempt the suicide mission. I also don't know if talking to your team throughout the entire game is a necessity or not. Do it anyway. People have obviously been getting different results with the perfect endings. Rather intriguing.

I pretty much did the same thing as you just different people setup.

Garrus 2nd fire team

I took Tali and Thane for my first squad.



Grunt escorted the survivors



Jack did the biotic bubble

Miranda led second squad.

Samara and Tali as my squad



Samara and Mordin as final squad

It sounds like so long as you have everyone loyal and are fully upgraded it works out (provided you pick Tali or Legion as your tech specialist).

If everyone's loyal to you and you have everything upgraded, it will work out no matter what. I chose different squadmates than what you guys are listing and everybody survived. Well, I did choose Tali for the vents though.

Nope, I had everyone loyal.. picked Tali as the tech specialist and Mordin died.



He isn't a throwaway character like a lot of the others, with the exception of Legion so was very upset.

Don't you only get a chance to do 4 loyalty missions before the Collectors show up, and if you don't head through Omega 4 immediately after (and thus not getting all loyalties) your crew starts dying?

Dunno. Does the tech specialist you send into the vents die?



I suspect that if you have all upgrades and full loyalty and go immediately into the relay after getting the IFF, everyone will survive.

I chose Thane for the second fire team and he died. Also, Jack died because she wasn't loyal.

I don't get it. Garrus and Jack died for me... I don't care about Jack but Garrus was just sad.
Jack was my biotic specialist and Garrus was one of the people in the squad during that piece. He was shooting off the collectors and the seeker swarm took him away. How can that be avoided though?!

And then Jack seemed alright, except just before the terminator thing jumps back up, it shows a cutscene where Jack is dead but Joker says that they're all aboard and just waiting for us. That made no sense. How did Jack even die...
Oh wait I just saw the post above me says that Jack died because she wasn't loyal. So technically if none of them are loyal they'll all die? hehe. That's strange, but crucial. I did her quest but I was on Miranda's side when they were arguing. Oh well.

Nope,  Tali survived the mission.

Think it has to do with the distraction team, I picked Miranda twice in a row for leading the teams (fire and diversion on my first playthrough) and everyone made it but picked Garrus this time round to do both.

No you can do all loyalty quests.  What I did was recruit the first group. Do the mandatory mission.  Get first groups loyalty.  Recruit last party members. (I dont exactly remember when the next mandatory mission took place and  if I got both of them) Get their loyalty. All the while doing ship upgrades and research. Go collect the IFF. Last loyalty quest.  Then you basically go save the crew right after they are gone no lollygagging so all survive.

Try using Jacob or Grunt as your escort.

Humbug, my thought process was that he had battle experience.

Tali's death was one I didn't understand though.

They all have battle experience, otherwise you wouldn't have brought them in the first place.

Does anyone know why the person that gets swarmed away by the seeker swarms does? And how can I prevent it?

I sent Zaeed to escort and took Tali and Garrus with me.



Everyone, including the hostages made it out unharmed.

Who did you use for the biotic bubble.  I didnt have this happen but my theory is that Jack does that final big burst that knocks everything back. Does samara do that?  Or I could be completely missing it.

I'm starting to think that there may be a timeframe for the vents. I tried with Tali in vent, Garrus as teamleader both times, Samara for shield, Morlin as escort and i used Miranda and Jack in my team. I saved all plus the Doc but lost kelly and the crew. Doc said i should have been faster. hmmm.

So, it IS possible to get and complete Legion's loyalty BEFORE the suicide mission, but without losing your crew due to taking your time? Okay, good.



Also, anyone have any recommendations for who to assign if I wanted to take Garrus with me in my squad? As opposed to assigning him to one of the other groups?

I had Tali go into the vents, Garrus lead first squad, Miranda lead second, Jack (SuZe) hold up the shield, and Grunt escort and everything worked out fine no deaths what-so-ever.



Also if you do Legions loyalty mission will be able to save your crew or not?
