I'm working through the game, but my missions are running low.
I'm currently level 16.
I've done most of my recruiting.
Only Tali and Legion are left.
Under normal gameplay conditions, exploring everything there is to see, can you reach level 30 before going on the suicide mission?
I'm assuming when you reach level 30, you have all the points to max every skill, thereby ensuring maximum survivalbility during the suicide mission.
Is it possible to reach level 30 before the suicide mission?

you don't have enough to "max out everything" (atleast i didnt as a adept), and yes it is attainable, atleast on a second playthrough (unsure on the "first" playthrough)

I survived just fine without maxing out everything. I wouldn't worry about it, frankly.

I was level 26 or 25 at the end of the game, and all I did were the recruitment and loyalty missions, and maybe one or two N7 missions I accidentally ran into
So unless there's a huge gap in xp after those levels, or not a lot of side content, then yes I'd say hitting 30 in the first play through is possible.

I got to level 30 at the final battle. Then instantly leveled up whatever I could and continued and finished it off. It was pretty cool.

I was able to get to level 30 on my first playthru. Granted, I'm kinda OCD when it comes to completing stuff. It was a lot easier to hit the level cap on ME2 than it was on the first game.

You can hit 30 in one playthrough if you do everything apparently, but also - if you start a new character after having beat ME2 once, you get a 25% XP bonus on that character so it's even easier to hit 30 with fresh characters in subsequent games

This. I imported level 60 character and started out at level 5. Then i got to 30 right after killing the final boss.

I only made it to level 27 the first time through, it seems very possible though considering I skipped quite a bit of sidequests.

I'm assuming starting at lvl 5 if you had a lvl 60 ME1 Shepard to xfer over helps in this endeavor. I'm only 80xp away from lvl 20 and I just got to Illium to do all the recruiting and loyalty missions involved there let alone all the other missions you run into there. I'm hopeful fora lvl 30 end game at this rate.

I got to level 28, and there were tons of side quests I didn't do. So yeah, I'd think it's possible.

I hit 28 on Hardcore, and only did 2-3 N7 missions. I didn't even do the ones given to you, like recapturing the freighter and the like.

I do not think it is possible on the first playthrough... someone prove me wrong.
From what I have seen, you need to have the imported level 60 character to get it to work.
I started the game at lvl 3 or 4 (my ME1 character was level 52) and even with that 3 level bonus, I did EVERYTHING in game. Every side quest, scanned every planet, got damn near every upgrade (except the hacking/bypass ones) and after killing the last boss on normal, hit 28/9.
Someone let me know I am wrong, but for a single playthrough, without the ME1 bonus, I do not think you can hit 30.

Well, fortunately, I did import a level 60 character from ME1.
But how does that affect the xp?
What bonus do you get for importing an ME1 character?
She started out at the starter level, not as a level 60.
The only thing I can remember seeing in the game about it is that completing the game once with an ME1 imported character gives you the Long Service Medal Achievement.

Planet scanning does not add experience points, right?
But it does find the hidden missions.

I imported a level 47 character and started at level 2, I got to level 29 by the end of the game, and had not completed all of the sidequests or N7 missions. Its very very possible to get to level 30 with 1 play through. Its basically for being a completionist if you started at level 1, or if playing off a ME1 import, a very normal thing to hit.

I hit 27 and started at like level 3 from my ME1 import, did all sidequests, anomaly quests, personal quests, and initial DLC.
I'm going to assume you could do it in a single playthru with either a level 60 import from ME1 or just do it on a 2nd playthru with the 25% xp bonus.

yea uh I've basically done everything I could possible due and I only made it to 26, I'm pretty sure you have to have a 60 import to even have a chance. Cause I had a 50 import.

I imported a level 57 character, did all the quests, and was level 27 when I beat the game. I would assume you would hit 30 after the final mission if you had imported a level 60 character and did the majority of the quests.

It is possible if you import a lvl60 character, thus starting at lvl5.

I made it to Level 30 the first play through, right before i faced the end boss. Basically, you need to import a level 60 character, and do EVERY quest, and you will hit 30 1st time through.

That's good to hear, I hope I can make level 30 first time then.
I'm getting into the sticky area of the game now, where it's possible to use the Omega 4 relay, but my team is not complete and I haven't finished all the missions yet.
Tali and Legion are still left to recruit.
I've also added some personal goals which will make it harder for me.
The first is to recruit Legion before going to see Tali (not sure if that's possible).
The second is to make sure Kelly Chambers survives being kidnapped by the Collectors.
I'm also trying to get all the loyalty missons done, so I have the maximum number of biotic powers to choose from when I finally pick one.
Anyway, at what level should I attempt the Omega 4 transit?
There's probably no hard and fast rule, just a ballpark level.
I'm currently level 19.

Not in your first play through, with the level 60 bonus, it is possible to reach 30 in the end of suicide mission if you do all the side quests. It might be possible for your second plzy through because you get 25 percent xp bonuses after you beat the game.

Just beat the game with my lvl 60 Femshep engineer import and I did reach lvl 30. It was kind of funny, I beat the game and still had 10 xp to go in order to get to lvl 30 but luckily I still had a couple N7 missions and that go me the points.
