Well, they had context sensitive dialogues, or did you miss those? An example: on Ilium, clicking on the horizon to see what Thane will say, or some other teammate might have something to say, I really liked this. Garrus will comment on the squalor of the Vorcha on Omega. He will make a side comment while you're talking to the guard on the Citadel that things, "have changed," since he was in C-sec.

I wish they hadn't completely removed any ability to talk to your team while on shore leave. I don't miss the elevators. Party conversations were pretty rare on them.

Really all that needs to be said is ME2 is an awesome game.

But if you played ME1 it makes ME2 feel small in comparison. Like ME2 is just shaved off ME1 without all the context content that made it great.

I honestly believe this content would have been just as good if they simply added the missions to the original. At least that way both aspects would be present in the experience.

I hope they put the RPG back into ME3. I understand the ratio issues but all that people wanted was "MORE SHOOTER" not less RPG and the same amount of shooter...

ME2 is probably the best game I've played. I found the gameplay was vastly improved over the first. I don't miss the ridiculous amounts of different weapons from the first one because once you got the Spectre weapons all the other ones were obsolete. I like that the combat is more shooter-based but the RPG story elements remain.

I liked that the character mission involved travelling to several interesting new worlds. The level design was somewhat linear but I prefer a detailed linear level to an empty planet with the same warehouse and crashed probe.

The game's art and graphics were beautiful considering the system requirements. I was worried I wouldn't be able to play on my laptop but it played the game with no lag or anything.

I guess what I want to see in ME3 is even more character development. I like where the story is heading but I would like to see similar interaction between characters like in Dragon Age.

1). Character Development

I think alot of things were done well, especially the humour that was put into some of the quips and convos you could have with people ot just overhearing them, though I must confess I was actually expecting the amount of interaction between your PC and the squad mates to be similar to DA:O, but then again assumptions are the mother of all....

I also agree with the lack of convo options with some of the squadmates. Especially Garrus, Jacob and Grunt, I really wanted to just talk and be able to understand and get to know their characters more, but alas that was not the case.

I would also like to add that the cameos were rather brief (as to be expected) but I was expecting more with the likes of Ashley and Kaiden.

2). Story-Integration

I must admit there were quite a few issues that I encountered in the game, and some of the worse ones were actually mistakes in the storyline of ME1 discussed in ME2. One example I can remember is that Legion quotes Sovereign as saying something on Ilos, when in fact it was actually said (when you have a brief convo with Sovereign) on Virmire.

There were a few issues similar to that, that really jumped out at me and made me think "what the hell? Don't they know the storyline?!" but I digress.

3). Combat

I really liked the combat in ME2. It was fast and frenetic and it was more fulfilling in my opinion. I originally thought the heatsink concept would be a negative, but I was pleasantly surprised overall, though I must admit screwing with the lore (no "ammo" in ME1) kinda annoyed me a bit, but thats a moot point.

It was pretty sweet seeing people pulled away and being slammed into objects and it made me standback quite a few times thinking "Whoa...that was sweet".

4). Missions

I really enjoyed some of the loyalty missions, especially Thanes one (bad cop ftw) and they were a welcome departure from some of the stagnant missions in ME1 and dare I say other RPG's I have played.

The atmosphere and ambience in many of the different mission locations was immense, and I found it extremely immersive and added to the tension of a particular mission or goal.

I have to say, re-visiting the Normandy was a pretty sad moment for me. Yeah, it might be nerdy, but its amazing how attached you get your space-faring chariots. Unless thats just me. Meh.

I got the same feelings for the Normandy crash site. The atmosphere and music are just perfect.

Mass Effect 2 really screwed up in the area of variety, armor and weapon wise. I mean come on. RPGs like Fallout 3 have easily 50 different weapons, with different models and characteristics.

I hate that you have to train ammo powers now. Weapon and ammo upgrades need to come back.

For the vindicator, for example: A sighting upgrade should be some sort of long range scope with an accuracy boost. This should affect the actual model as well. A high caliber barrel mod should change the sound and muzzle flare of the weapon, and create more smoke when firing (maybe it could also use more ammunition). Maybe even an upgrade to extend in-weapon thermal clip capacity. Having to find upgrades just makes no sense. A former spectre would have no trouble getting upgrades for anything he wanted.

IMO, every single weapon should have a variety of upgrades that can be applied to it.

Same with armor. Adding in a shield battery should actually look like you added in a shield battery, like a module on the back of the armor or something.

Anyone think that you shouldn't have to find new thermal clips. I mean they just overheated so wouldn't you be able to use them again once they cooled down? Maybe have you only carry a couple of clips and after so many uses they 'break' or melt or something and you then have to find new ones. Then the upgrades would be you being able to carry more or use them more times before they break.

Character development better in the first game? LOLWUT.

Everyone in the first game was a walking codex.

I don't think thermal clips should be measured in numbers, maybe a bar or something that slowly goes down, and you can swap it out for a cold clip instantly, replace the cold one with the hot one, and it'll cool off there. it'd be cool not to have to worry about ammo so much, i ran out a few times

As far as immersion goes - the random conversations between squad members and random people is very important. I understand the "I'm on the phone" bit as a way to give you information with out having someone ask a total stranger to go do something for them - but damn, I get enough of that in real life :)

Entering the Ship - well most of the small cut scenes for that matter - you can abbreviate or skip after the first (maybe first 2) times. I think going though the process completely the first time and then just a subtle reminder of the process after that would help in terms of immersion.

The only part of the elevator I like was the conversation - if it had lasted about 2 seconds longer than that (1 on each side of the conversation) I suspect no one would have even noticed the ride itself. Which means, - make the conversation a bit longer than the expected load times if that's what your covering. (yeah I know - time is money)

I really liked some of the previous suggestions - the breakfast conversation is excellent.

Thinking a back to ME1 - they sort of missed a bet with Ash and Kaiden, - you probably all recall the conversation option - "How are we doing" or something about the last mission? - I kept waiting for Ash to tell me - "How the hell would I know - you never take me anywhere!" Perhaps more awareness of the universe on the part of the Squad. Maybe sending them on intel missions where what you learn depends a bit on who you send, and where you send them?

It would have been interesting to have various crew people ask you to sign off on reports, ask if they could borrow one of your team for some repair or modification, etc.

Maybe an occasional random meeting in the elevator - on board.

Long post warning

To begin with mass effect 2 is an almost perfect game by itself. In my opinion there are some
slight changes that are needed for it to become utterly perfect . Before that though, let me note that i really didn't miss the ship saying "decontamination in progress" for abot 9 times until i finally get in. And , about elevators , yes they were removed but still random teamates conversation in cities do happen , in certain spots , it's just that you don't really have to get in an elevator to trigger one , just speak to a teamate about the view , market , etc . Now on to the main points.

1)What i would really want to see in ME3 is an option to talk to the teamates at all times , used in KOTOR and ME1 , even if the answer is "we're in the middle of a fight". Along with that i'd like the influence system used also in KOTOR. For those who don't know it , when things happen ingame, the way you react on them makes your teamates trust you more or less. This would solve the problem everyone has with getting to know your teamates too easilly. Loyalty quests have also been good at this though , characters usually need your help to get something important done. After shepard has helped them i think he does have a right to get to know some more private right?

2) Bring the mako back. Please. The new planet scanning system is really kick-ass no mistake but i miss those days making the mako climb unclimbable mountains. Me3 should have a fusion of scanning and makoing. Or something, i don't know :).

3)Bring some RPG elements back. Think what were the elements that made ME1 such a big hit? It combined a good shooter experience within a great storyline based on a RPG system. Really where has the inventory gone? Selling items? Different weapons , making the player feel like he's in a real world where there are different companies making different products? Having a high level cap and lots of different powers and talents , the last ones being removed from me2? I remember that with a lvl 60 char you could have like 5 different powers and could spend skillpoints on player stats (spectre training , class training etc) . Now the lvl 30 cap is not that hard to reach and it does not focus on player stats anymore making the game miss out for RPG lovers.

4)Small but necessary is the need to control your teamates actions like in me1. By that i mean that yes you can tell them which power to use , where to move and so on but you can't simply tell them to attack a particular target anymore. This can seem like not much but it can be pretty annoying on some times.

5)Last but not least , i'd really like to be able to participate on starship fights. Game developers have already said it might be a possibility but hell , using the normandy to fly in space and lasaring (yes lasar not laser) some blue suns/eclipse/collector ships would be great. Adding upgrades to the normandy could help these fights. I think the whole space fights would make mass effect 3 look like a real space-faring game , you know , yes we do land on planets but we can throw a punch from up here too.

And i'd like to talk about the characters in me2. I loved most of them really, i thought almost all of them were brilliantly designed and most of them (except maybe garrus) do not lack lines at all.

Jacob: He's the one i liked less to tell the truth. He is not bad but has a pretty standard storyline and ... well with the people you have in the crew he lacks a bit don't ya think?

Miranda: She was designed to be the perfect woman and she damn does a fine job at it, the way she acts , talks , and even moves , femme fatale and all. Backround story was really nice too , and interesting special mission. I however found her too not to be in league with others . Still very well developed and in-deph

Mordin: Loved him. I mean he's a salarian and he sings. Almost nothing can beat that.

Garrus: Joker's quote was right " He has taken the stick out of his *** but now he tries to beat people to death with it" Interesting idea with the change of character , and i'd love to see him on me3. I mean he's been with us from the start :P

Jack: Now this has to be my favourite character. And for everyone saying she's like a bomb to go off , yes that's right , but if you get to know and talk to her.. I don't know i just think that bioware developers did a real good job with psychology on this character. The starting idea is that of the kill-the-world-psychopath but later if you get to know her the character is actually a 180 spin change.

Samara: Tragic figure , great backround , great story deeply thought and very nice though character. By the code she shall serve us :)

Thane: I found the perfect memory really intriguing as a concept. Like the drell way of thinking too. Felt compassionate about him, you know an assasin that's not really evil and such.I really hope he's in me3.

Legion: You have a geth on board . That admires you . It even dances like a robot if you stare at him for long enough. How cool is that? But really , helped alot the way i pictured geth and added alot in this game. Also one of the better thought characters in this game.

Zaheed: Yea. I didn't really like this one , no way "investigate" speaking , and he just seemed like the revenge driven crazy dude. Without any flashy backround like jack or thane. Meh.

And yes this brings us to
Tali:Hell yeah they got her right. She's grown up , became and adult in almost every way, still retaining that cuteness she had in the first me. Bioware struck gold with her , i really can't imagine anyone not liking her.

Some quick notes before finishing.Bioware don't you dare remove the upgrade system! And now on a completely different track.I liked the liara stunt they pulled. She's also grown up in her way. Remember in me1 she was in a lot of ways still a child. Not anymore (The biggest reason i'm expecting me3 is her. Yes more than tali >.<) . More joker outtakes! I hope they build EVI a female body. He shall have his romance at last xD. last but not least , it's ok to make ash return but if she " captain o' my captain's "me again i'll make her choke on just used thermo clips.

P.S thanks for reading this whole thingie. I think you're really special =D

I like the lack of equipment micromanaging. It's nice with some variation instead of everyone wearing identical Spectre armour and using Spectre weapons because they were statwise the best.

The new equipment system is vastly superiour, in my own opinion.

If it was called 'ME3:Balance' it would be amazing, bring back some of the weapon/armor variety from the first but not the crazy amounts of them that accumulated over the game. 2-3 of each type is not enough whatever the numbers in the first were too many.

And yes, bringing back some of the chatty character stuff from the first would be great, but having.... 6(?) elevators in the main quest hub that took ages to ride on each time got boring. DA:O had some of the best party chatter I've seen in a long time (ever) so hopefully the ME3 team will take a page from their book.

Personally i felt the game was more connected to the universe this time around, because the actions you took in the first all echo through this one in some large ways and some small. Can't wait to have both games worth of decisions all connecting and affecting the universe that my shep has shaped.

A fusion. I think collecting weapons and armor with both tiers (Avenger, Banshee etc) and styles (Vindicator is a burst fire, while default is a SAP  - Spray and Pray - Gun) but with the ME:2 loadout style. Your weapon inventory should be slots as well. If you can not use or don't want to use a sniper rifle, for example, you should be able to carry another Assault rifle or Shotgun there.

*Tons of spoilers* I loved both games, and thought ME2 improved in many areas. Aside from the obvious (graphics and sound), the combat was more fun, the galaxy map was more fun, and the interrupt system was great. I also loved that you could actually get a drink at a bar, just one of those little things that adds to the immersiveness (and I've wanted to do that since Kotor). Now, most of what I'm going to say has probably been said before, but here goes. The things Bioware added to increase the immersive (I guess that's not a word, but you get it) feel of the game were partially ruined by the mission end screens. That just really got under my skin, and along with that, not getting xp for each individual kill, but for whole missions, always a set amount. That makes sense I guess with less total skills, but would have really liked xp for each kill, with extra for headshots, combos, etc. Along with making combat scenarios a little more open ended like ME1, that would lead to a real riot of fun gameplay. Also, mining got boring, but I didn't hate it and it was really fun to go out and scan for anomalies and whatnot. Really creative side missions. Another downside was the fact that there is a limited amount of money in the galaxy. I did everything, and was far from having all upgrades. I suppose that was to enforce the idea of choices, and having to develop only certain weapon trees, but I kind of wanted to get all of those. What really impressed me were the conversations with crewmates. They were often not static, for example when you talk to Jack, sometimes she jumps around or whatever and it's not just two people standing and you looking at their faces from the same angle. It's much more cinematic. There were also many other great new animations. I loved talking to Garrus, if felt like you actually had a friend in the game and you weren't on a ship of strangers. That way with Joker too. Later on, Mordin opens up more; he never seems to run out of dialog, and it's great. He's a real badass. A doctor special agent, I like how he doesn't mess around, when he says something he's dead serious, and he doesn't hold back. Thane was also a great character. The flashbacks were cool. Oh yeah! Almost forgot. One of my favorite things was that you can actually carry on after the final mission and the game acts like you've beat it! People are like "man we sure showed the collectors" or whatever. Totally awesome, and I think it's the only game like that. It feels like you're in a real universe, especially with the daily news and lots of dlc. Which is why the mission screen and predetermined xp disappoints me even more. Legion is great too, I liked hearing about the Geth from a different side. It's funny when you ask about him wearing your armor too. So, I agree with the addition of more random chatter, although if you really listen, leave and come back to civilian chatter, you can learn a lot and hear some interesting stuff, mostly in a few places on Illium. I would have liked a little more open space on Omega, maybe a ramp leading to a lower area, however small with more shops in the first area, and actually flesh out the presidium again. Perhaps a place on Tuchanka where it's just a big wasteland with lots of enemies and you can just go out and fight alien monsters whenever (that would go with the open combat thing I was talking about), but that would be hard without a vehicle (which is coming, yes!) considering it's a cover based shooter. And more missions where the whole team is there, and you choose members for specific roles. That was cool. I didn't mind the streamlining of the inventory, but a little more weapon variety would be nice. There were plenty of armor upgrades, I thought. I made mine Boba Fett colors the whole time. The hud could be a little more user friendly. But for what it is, I consider Mass Effect 2 one of the greatest games of all time, and my personal favorite; and it would be cool to see xp combos and more open ended combat scenarios in ME3. Plus, put back in having to walk into the ship, no mission complete screen, etc.
