I have a retail version of Mass Effect 2 that I preordered from Gamestop. Installation went fine. When I insert the disc, the splash page where it plays the theme song and says play, configure, support, etc.. loads fine. However, when I click play, a ME2 CDKey Check window pops up that says "Failed to authenticate the disc. Please insert the correct disc and try again." No matter what I do it keeps popping up after I click OK. I know people are having problems in game, but I can't seem to get the game to even start! Please help as this is very annoying.

Have the same problem. Wierd thing is that I've played the game for a few days and the problem came just this evening.
Would be grateful for tips/solution since it's mighty annoying

Hello again.
After some digging around I found I had an even bigger problem, my dvd-rom had vanished from "my computer" alltogether.
Since I'm only a "semi-geek" I was horrifed about this.
Anyways if this happens to anyone else I just wanted to direct you to this site
