So since I have no idea how to search these forums (great forums EA, i mean bioware), I'll make this post that tends to be great fun for all bioware games.

Basically, post any easter egges/references you come across and where/how to see them.

I'll start:

(1) Space hamster - purchased on the citadel or Omega, I can't remember. (Minsk's Boo was....a space hamster)

(2) Tali - have Tali use her combat drone ability and you'll hear some great riffs on Baldur's Gate 2 sayings.  Notably: Go for the optics! go for the optics! (reference to 'go for the eyes boo!').  She also says something to the effect of "nothing is faster than Chiktika fastpaws" - reference to Aerie.

(3) Prisoner 780 and 483 (numbers right?) - saw this.  These are codes for where Bioware is located.

(4) Illium bar - hear some hilarious banter by a Salarian who's friends are throwing him a bachelor party; also right next to them is a Quarian and Turian who go on and on about the ridiculousness of people's obsession with Quarian females (a friendly dig by Bioware at all the fans who cried out for a Tali romance in ME1).

For the turian talking about Quarians I think Kelly line "I just want to hug him" was about those who pleaded for a Garrus Romance

Garrus's remark to Male Shepard upon his recruitment: "All the women use to ignore you and hit on me, maybe now you'll stand a chance." Is a fairly obvious shout-out to the legions (*coughmyselfincludedcough*) of fans who found him far more interesting (and attractive) than the other characters in ME1. Kelly also remarks that "The two of you would make a cute couple."

Take Tali and Garrus around the Citadel and you'll eventually get a convo where Garrus asks Tali about the "long elevator rides", a topic Tali attempts to quash by threatening Garrus with her shotgun if he doesn't shut up.

On Ilium, one of the news reports is a commercial about a new Blasto the Hanar Spectre series. Put in probably after the Blasto character became so popular on the old forums.

Dunno if this is one or how it may change with your choices, but the woman worried about her unborn child and her brother were in one of the Citadel shops, agonizing over choices of immune-boosters. They were a sidequest on the citadel in the first game.

Tons of Star Wars references, including the beginning where Joker says, "Come on, baby, hold together!" a la Han Solo in Episode IV as well as there being a docking bay 94 on Illium.

Joker also makes a reference to A Space Odyssey during the Collector attack on Normandy 2 when he tells IDI if she starts singing 'Daisy', he's done with her. (For those who don't know, it's a reference to HAL's 'death' scene).

That's the only Sci-Fi stuff I've so far.

By the way the Salarian who's getting thrown a bachelor party mention something interesting, that asari resembles salarians, and the human said it look more like them, and the turian mention that it looks more like his species. It makes me wonder if we only seen the asari from Shepard's perspective, and we really don't know what they actually look like. Maybe it's possible like that human said that they are being mind control into seeing a form that is most attractive to them.

I love the Minsk tribute from Tali and her drones.

I  heard that too and couldn't help but laugh.  A DLC character or teammate for ME3 perhaps.  LOL!

I  always wondered what the "space"  hamster thing was about.  I bough the darn thing expecting it to shoot lasrers or something but he just hides in his little hamster house in Shepards quarters.

Also, refund guy is back, harassing some poor bloke down by the warehouse in the Citadel. And probably the most obvious scifi reference is the Scotty-alike Donnelly in engineering. The two engineers have some great lines if you just linger nearby for a bit, too.

I've had so many LOL moments listening to those two.

JoKer and EDI have some great ones too.

Even Garrus has some zingers from time to time.

I'm really missing Wrex and the elevators though.  Grunt's a great fighter but on the personality side... meh.

While I was playing, my friend and I were talking about if there'd be a Blasto reference in-game. Then as soon as we mentioned it, the commercial came on and we burst into fits of laughter. It completely made my day.

Someone please fill me in on this Blasto the spectre story. Did it arise on the forums? April Fool's joke? fanfic?

The initial quest when you are sent to look for evidence of who is taking colonists. When you enter the first room after landing is a reference to Aliens when Jacob comments that everyone must have just got up and left half way through dinner and the music is also from aliens aswell.

Another is the asari Matron bartender in the same bar... talk to her, buy a drink of the mystery drink and then talk to her again... her face changes.

If you listen long enough  the guy says something along the lines of  "maybe we should jsut ask random people walking by"

There is also the banter between tali and garrus on the citadel where garrus asks tali if she misses the elevator conversations and she says no and when he pushes her she ends it with "i have a shotgun"
