Man, is she a tough cookie to crack.  My characters keep dying over and over again. :C

I was wondering if anyone who has gotten that far had any advice?  My party consists of Human Noble Rouge Duelist, Alistair, Orghen, and Wynne, all around level 13.  I'm playing on easy and I'm still getting my butt thoroughly kicked. :(

Hellllp!

Kill the tentacles before concentrating on the broodmother. After you damage a tentacle a bit, it will retract into the ground. Once all four are retracted, attack the main body. After a bit, the tentacle come back out (and some darkspawn appear - take them out before hurting the tentacles again) and you start over. Repeat until dead. Stay away from the main body when the tentacles are out; IIRC, she'll use some nasty attacks if you get too close.

Put all of your ranged characters on the rocks. I cannot stress this enough. Tentacles can't attack people on rock.

Further tip: Don't Stand on the Brood Mother.

Think about that... look around on the floor...

All of the above. Range attacks, have your melee take care of the tentacles she sends after you. Watch out for the Darkspawn joining the fight throughout.

I ran through it several times with my character, duel wielding Warrior, Shale, Liliana and Morrigan. Failed those times. I was level 14 or 15 I think, on normal difficulty.

I tried attacking her directly, leaving tentacles alone pretty much, and using ranged for Morrigan and Liliana..didnt work..tried running up behind her, attacking tentacles, didn't workout and kept getting hit with poison even though I was behind rock and couldn't hit her..but her poison hit me.
Also my main character was always the one that got tentacle grabbed, she is the one with highest armor/attack etc..died 4 times that way..

I finally ran back to camp to swap Shale for Alistair and try that, cos I had to equip Alistir as I left him in camp for many levels as soon as Shale was avilable.
Anyway, that worked out.
Alistar and my character attacked her, not tentacles, had Liliana and Morrigan back on rocks shooting. And I would keep moving Morigan up to side of her and hitting with Blizzard, than Shock thing, than Winters grasp, while pounding with my tanks.

I set them all to automatically use health if below 50%. I used lesser health on my main character if less than 75% to keep it really high and that saved me from last tentacle grab, took a lot of damage, but she just threw me away and I was alive still. So used a Health and Lesser health on her and ran back in after the tentacle beating/throwing.

When dark spawn waves came out, I ran everyone back to rocks to kill them, health up, than charge back in with 2 tanks and Morrigans freezing and shocking again.

Used about 15-20 Lesser Healths, 5 or so Healths, and maybe 2 Lyriums.

I found it very simple if you go 100% ranged and shoot brood, switch to melee and kill the tentacles when they pop out, same with the few genlocks. Go back to arrowing the crap out of them.

I did the same, except I stood on the rocks and ignored the tentacles. Put everyone on ranged, stand on the rocks near the back, attack the broodmother. When the genlocks arrive, switch to melee and take them out, then get back to the rocks and go ranged again. Rinse and repeat.

I put all my party at the very back end of the cavern and had my rogues shoot the Broodmother while my tank (Shale) took on the DarkSpawn Wynne was healing. Near the very end we all ran forward and finished her off in melee for the slow mo killing shot :D

2 toons on each rock at back of room all using ranged. Spread the toons out so the acid spit aoe only hits 1 at a time which is easy to heal thru. The tentacles can't hit you on the rocks so ignore them. Clearing the darkspawn when they come is pretty easy then back to ranged dps.

1. Ignore tentacles and focus on other mobs when the mobs spawn. When tentacles teleport to you, kill them.

2. after tentacles are dead, seperate your party and place your tank in front away from any other melee (she should hit him with her ******)

3. slowly auto-shoot them queen down till she spawns more adds (it's percentage based), spend this time trying to recover mana/stam/health if possible.

after about 4-5 cycles it'll be over, it's strictly a control fight.

I never tried putting range on the rocks, but I might do it next time.

I'm running a group of melee heavy hitters. Alistair, Shale and me as a DW Warrior. Morrigan is our primary range option. On easy we beat the Broodmother pretty handily. Alistair kept the flies off Shale and I (various darkspawn) Shale, Morrigan and I kept whacking away with all our best high damage attacks: Pulverizing Blow, Quake, Riposte, Flurry, etc.

And everyone was hitting the healing poultices heavily. IIRC, we had 2 lesser poultices left by the end of the battle, but no one dropped and we were all above 50% on the health at battles end.

Set difficulty to 'easy,' set all party members on on tentacle at a time until they go away, focus on Broodmother, kill darkspawn when they pop, rinse, repeat.

Inferno + Tempest + Blizzard, with everyone back on the rocks and using ranged weapons on her. Easiest boss fight ever, though I admit my strategy was tremendously cheap.

What I did on normal (2h War, Alistair, Leliana, Wynne) was focus fire the brood mother while ignoring ALL OTHER mobs. If the BM initiates a grab you use your stamina that you've hopefully remembered to save up and activate a Knockdown attack (shield bash or pommel strike) which IIRC will disrupt the grab before you take much damage.

After dropping the BM which shouldn't take long with your three physicals focus firing you just run after hitting the mobs with some CC (with knock downs or freeze or even stuns). Then you can just regroup, heal up, and take out the mobs at your leisure.

This is one of the only fights I focus fired the boss without attacking the weaker mobs first. This is because the tentacles drop below ground which I found very annoying because of my reliance on physical damage and CC.

To beat the brood mother on nightmare difficulty, follow these 2 simple steps:

1. Place Michael Moore in front of your party. The brood mother will think she is looking into a mirror, and attempt to turn around. Cue hacking, slashing, and burning.

2. As a last resort, feed rosie o'donald to the brood mother. The brood mother will immediately weaken and die.

Heh, put ALL your characters on the rock and make them all go ranged. When I tried that approach it was far easier. I backed them as far from the broodmother as possible (not on the little "island" where they can be attacked by tentacles from every direction) and pounded her with spells and arrows. It wasn't fast work, but it was relatively safe even when the darkspawns attacked. Just make sure that a mage is wired to heal when someone gets too damaged and you'd do fine.

3. Feed George W. Bush to the brood mother. Some taint is so foul even a darkspawn cannot stand it.

Exactly what I did to. Well, I didn't have Inferno at the time, but the rest. ;)

I ignored the tentacles entirely. Have each of your characters go ranged (hold ground), and stand them on a different rock, so that her acid can't affect all of you at once. Save your mage's mana to heal the one she targets the acid at. Let them plink away, switching to melee when beset by a darkspawn.

Then just wait for like 15 minutes. She'll die eventually.

Stagger blizzard and tempest or inferno on her if you have a mage, move everyone to the back of the room and play add cleanup while ranged and AoE takes her down.

4. Disguise yourself as a darkspawn in order to vote for Obama as president of the darkspawn. In days, the darkspawn will become communistic, and start to stagnate. The ensuing horrible quality of healthcare should do in the broodmother eventually.
WARNING: This option is only for the most evil characters, or who REALLY despise the darkspawn.
