I think I'm just gonna start a new game. I don't have Wynne (which a lot of people say I need), Morrigan doesn't have Blizzard or any good spells, I have no Health Poultices. So I think I'll just restart it. Where do I get Wynne in the game? I don't think I ever even saw her in the game.

My party dies so quick and I can't control what they do. If I just try to put my ranged attacking her, Oghren and Shale run off to attack her too. If I could just keep them back...

Pause the game to direct your party members on what to do.  Or set their tactics how you want them, such as the archer on Ranged attack.  You'll probably still have to manage them a bit.

You should have your mage set to Heal any ally that drops below 50%.  Each party member should also be set to chug a health poultice when their health drops below 50% (or 25% if you need to be conservative with potions).  This will help keep them on their feet without you having to babysit them.

On a future game, you might want to consider using Hale runes.  It does make a difference.  Also, give your mage an area-of-effect attack like Fireball or Death Cloud as soon as possible.  Crowd control is so important in this game.

Broken Circle quest, at the mage's tower.

No health poultices and no Wynne... yeah, you're kinda screwed in the Dead Trenches.  Or anywhere, really.

As for the rock, look down at the ground. Most of it is fleshy. Don't stand on it, the tentacles can get you there. Directly in front of the broodmother and back a bit is a patch of rock. Everyone should stand there. Click the 'hold' button to make sure they do not move off. Micro manage Shale to kill any mobs that get within melee. Everyone else shoots the broodmother. It will take a while, but you should be safe as houses on the rock.

I like to pose everyone in a line, fwiw. Makes a prettier picture.

You can also have your rangers/casters stand at kind of a diagonal, BEHIND the Broodmother. That way the tentacles can't get you and the Broodmother's radius to attack directly is pretty limited.

Nobody will be the wiser if you run back out of there, get yourself to a merchant, and either 1) buy the equipment to make health poultices (cheaper), 2) buy health poultices, or 3) buy a manual that gives you extra spec points for mages, and get Morrigan EITHER "Heal" or "Cone of Cold" (depending on where on the spectrum you are for frost spells...Winter's Grasp COULD freeze BM but Cone of Cold SURELY will. If you have Sten with you, there's a chance you could shatter the BM if frozen.)

And I agree with Hale runes. ;)

Actually, you can nip off right quick and do the 'broken circle' quest for teh Wynne. Broodmother will still be waiting for you, patiently. She won't even nag you when you return about how you didn't write. She's agreeable that way.

It's not that hard if you keep your distance. I stay by the entrance until the broodmother is below 50% health. Morrigan can hit her with vulnerability, crushing prison, blizzard, etc. Alistair can use. Holy Smite (I always make the PC a templar, too, as 2 characters with Clense Area is very useful, but they may not have Holy Smite at this point). I don't ever fight the tentacles. It's a waste of time, because they die when the broodmother dies. You can also have two characters using crossbows, while another fights the darkspawn.

You can do the whole thing from the back of the room, but it's not all that exciting, so once she's below 50%, I send Alistair and the PC in, letting my third fighter and Morrigan take care of the second wave fo darkspawn.

Well, I have it for PS3, so I think it is not as easy to control characters where to go. And the other problem with Wynne is that I already completed the Broken Circle quest. So I guess I can't get her then, right? So if I start a new game, where exactly do i get Wynne in the Tower? Before the Templars lock my party in it?

Oh dear. Wynne is the senior mage you encounter right after the templars lock you in. There's something of a cutscene where she confronts a demon with powers she never uses as a member of your party.

I never used wynne in any of my playthrough, i simply hate her. Just make morrigan learn few healing spells and the herbalist skill, make a lot of potions (in dalish camp they sell infinite elf root). That way you can get rid of the old wench and beat the game in nightmare mode.

Yeah but I screwed up. Morrigan has no good spells and doesn't know herbalist skills. That's why I'm starting a new game so I can do things right. But hey, it was my first play through, and I'm not that good at RPGs, lol. But thanks all, for the help.

@Tor_pedo: Yep, Wynne is awesome. I ran into the Broodmother at level 16 on Normal. I wasn't really sure what strategy to use, so I charged in with my char (DW duelist/ranger) and Oghren, and left Leliana and Wynne at the entrance. The two wolves in the party (Leliana is a ranger too) somehow tied up two tentacles without getting killed - they got stuck on a rock, with escape blocked off by tentacles. My char then started pounding on the Broodmother, while Oghren was attempting to do something about tentacles and darkspawn. Wynne was mostly healing and chugging lyrium potions, while lobbing the occasional Winter's Breath or Stone's Fist. At one point the battlefield was choked with enemies, so I had Leliana use Captivating Song. It was surprisingly effective. Despite that, eventually everyone in the party went down except Wynne. Revival was in heavy cooldown, so Wynne couldn't raise anyone in the party. So she cast Earthquake to suppress the darkspawn/tentacles, turned on Combat Magic and started hacking on the Broodmother with Spellweaver. Eventually she went down, and I was treated to the sight of Wynne making a melee boss kill. She then had to mop up a couple of darkspawn.

I burned through an amazing amount of lyrium and healing potions in that battle. Next time I run into her, I'll have to try ranged attacks from the rocks.

I only did it on easy so far, but I beat it first try no problem by just focus firing with priority on darkspawn adds, then the tentacles, and then the boss (spreading out as much as possible). Used Shale/Oghren/2hand war/Morrigan and didn't need any range, used heal every time it was off CD. Think I did need a decent number of poultices, but I don't think I ever even made any on that play through lol, so wasn't too much.

Normally wouldn't have posted cause I only did it on loleasy but the OP did specifically say they even had trouble with easy mode.
