My party dies so quick and I can't control what they do. If I just try to put my ranged attacking her, Oghren and Shale run off to attack her too. If I could just keep them back...
Pause the game to direct your party members on what to do. Or set their tactics how you want them, such as the archer on Ranged attack. You'll probably still have to manage them a bit.
You should have your mage set to Heal any ally that drops below 50%. Each party member should also be set to chug a health poultice when their health drops below 50% (or 25% if you need to be conservative with potions). This will help keep them on their feet without you having to babysit them.
On a future game, you might want to consider using Hale runes. It does make a difference. Also, give your mage an area-of-effect attack like Fireball or Death Cloud as soon as possible. Crowd control is so important in this game.

I think I'm just gonna start a new game. I don't have Wynne (which a lot of people say I need), Morrigan doesn't have Blizzard or any good spells, I have no Health Poultices. So I think I'll just restart it. Where do I get Wynne in the game? I don't think I ever even saw her in the game.
No health poultices and no Wynne... yeah, you're kinda screwed in the Dead Trenches. Or anywhere, really.

I like to pose everyone in a line, fwiw. Makes a prettier picture.

Nobody will be the wiser if you run back out of there, get yourself to a merchant, and either 1) buy the equipment to make health poultices (cheaper), 2) buy health poultices, or 3) buy a manual that gives you extra spec points for mages, and get Morrigan EITHER "Heal" or "Cone of Cold" (depending on where on the spectrum you are for frost spells...Winter's Grasp COULD freeze BM but Cone of Cold SURELY will. If you have Sten with you, there's a chance you could shatter the BM if frozen.)
And I agree with Hale runes.

You can do the whole thing from the back of the room, but it's not all that exciting, so once she's below 50%, I send Alistair and the PC in, letting my third fighter and Morrigan take care of the second wave fo darkspawn.

Ah great I killed her. I remember a mage and her companions confronting me so I killed them. Well looks like I'm starting a new game lol.
I never used wynne in any of my playthrough, i simply hate her. Just make morrigan learn few healing spells and the herbalist skill, make a lot of potions (in dalish camp they sell infinite elf root). That way you can get rid of the old wench and beat the game in nightmare mode.

I burned through an amazing amount of lyrium and healing potions in that battle. Next time I run into her, I'll have to try ranged attacks from the rocks.

Normally wouldn't have posted cause I only did it on loleasy but the OP did specifically say they even had trouble with easy mode.
