 Hello,

I just bought ME1 off steam and the download and instilation went fine. I tryed to play the game and then it had to updated, that was fine.  After it updated itself i tryed again and i got this message in a msgbox:

IGameExplorer --> Verify Access

Unable to verify access to the game.

I was connected to the internet and i tryed "run as admin", same thing happened. I also tryed running it from the .exe, not off steam but the same thing happened.  I am running Windows 7 ultimate 32bit and i pass the system reqs.

Ive been googling my a** off and have found some ppl with the same problem but no fix. HALP MEH PLEX:crying:

Sounds like a virus scanner or a firewall is blocking access to the verification server. Disable any firewalls you are running to get it verified. I think you only need to do this once. (I hope anyway)



I found this also:



Try this... go to command mode (You will need to use command in Administrator Mode)



then type:



netsh (will run program)

interface

tcp

show global



if ECN Capability is "enabled" this might be your problem



change by typing:



set global ecncapability=disabled



then of course make sure you run the game in administrator mode

I have tryed it with my firewall off and my ECN is disabled, i tryed both of them yesterday b4 i fell asleep ><

Something is still preventing you from connecting to their verification servers.  I would shut down as many background programs as you can.  If you are on a router set your local IP address as a DMZ.

Ok ill will stop all background programs that are not needed, i am using a wireless connection with a router, but i dont know how to set my IP adress as a DMZ.

What is the model of your router?

So i tryed but when i go to 192.168.1.1 in the browser it tells me i need a username and password for authentication. It is an unsecured connection and we have no passwords on it. Gerrrrr

In case it is the router i tryed 2 other connections in my area and they all give me the same original result.

This has nothing to do with a wireless password.  This is the Router's firmware password.  Default password for a linksys router is:

Username:
Password:  admin

(Note the username is blank)

That doesn't mean anything.  All of those connections are behind routers and therefore, behind hardware firewalls.

The password worked and i enabled the DMZ and saw the light go on, on the router. Right now im trying to find out my computers IP so i can put it for the DMZ :/

Ok so i got my IP and set it for the DMZ and saved the settings.



I ran ME and got the same issue cant verify

What if i plugged in directly yo the modem, bypassing the router, verifyed it, then played it normally. I belive it will only have to verify once. Im going to try this.

If you set your PC to the DMZ then it must be something else.  I'm running out of ideas here.

What virus scanner are you using?

Malware scanner?

Anything Scanner?

ya, i checked a bunch of other posts like this at steam powered forums but none of them were solved. I think ill try calling the support lines on monday. lol i bought 2 games yesterday, ME and Psychonauts and neither of them are working
