Personally, I would completely uninstall COMONDO and then try and play to see if maybe it was running services in the background even if you closed the program. You could always just reinstall COMONDO.

Bring your computer to a buddy's house.  Connect to their internet (via wire).  Disable your firewalls.  Try again.

Also were you running the game in administrator mode?  (Or have you disabled UAC?)

Try disabling User Account Control.  The check box should be under users in your control pannel.

EDIT:  Future Reference:  Vista and 7 doesn't care if you are Admin and only user.  All your base are belong to microsoft. Image IPB  In all seriousness though, even if you are an Admin, programs will run at the user level unless you tell it otherwise.

Ok i made a temp fix. In case any1 else has this problem.

In your mass effect folder under binaries, right click the masseffect.exe, under properties, select run as admin AND run in compatibility mode(windows XP).

Games unfortunately run slower in compatibility mode but it works well enough.

*Note this is for Windows 7 (im using ultimate im not sure witch versions have compatibility mode)

I'm having the same problem. I've tried all the fixes, and your last post was the most helpful so far. I don't get the "unable to verify access" error anymore, but now it's just stuck at a black screen. I'm also using Windows 7 Ultimate.

The problem is in the compatibility mode. But you have to set compatibility mode in Binaries\\masseffect.exe and not masseffectlauncher.exe!!
Also compatibility mode should be XP (Vista will not work).

C'mon, now, folks! This was dead in the graveyard, and it was the WRONG graveyard. This is the ME-2 Tech Forum and it didn't belong here a year ago, let alone justify being dug back up.
